My iMac Has Become An FM Receiver?

So I am working from home and have the iMac on to fuck around with as I sit through endless Conf Calls and WebExs while logged on the VPN for work via my Employer Owned Laptop - I begin to hear what sounds like a muffled conversation - So, I get a semi thinking the neighbor is at it again and then when I shut my Speakers off so I can eves drop without any disturbance, the conversation goes away? - Speakers on, conversation back

My fuckin iMac is acting as an FM receiver - WTF? - Annoying to say the least

Must find a way (not buying a PC either) to make this stop

are the speakers internal to the machine or are they external speakers? Is the machine plugged into power? Is it in a properly grounded power strip? It sounds like a bad power connection due to grounding. Try another outlet maybe?

Detection in the amps. It's unusual to get FM, because of the type of modulation. AM is much easier to come by, with a simple diode detector.

But most of Chicago's FM stations transmit from the Hancock Center. It's possible that a bad solder joint or some other dirty connection in your amp is causing the problem.

Nope - I think the speaker wire is acting like an Antenna? - When I unplug form the Mac, it still plays thru the speakers?

try turning or moving the imac a little

the change in position can cease reception similar to how you used to have to move tv antennas to get better reception

It is the speakers - When they are completely disconnected from the iMac, the sound is still there - Odd thing is they have been in the same place since I moved here in 2003

if the speakers are the cause, depending on the cost of the speakers it might be time to get new speakers. Or at the very least, get a new power supply for the speakers as the first thing to check. The ground should isolate these types of noises.

They are some old ass Logitechs but they still kick it - Bass Box and (3) Tweets and when I pump it, they sound great - Not sure how this just started to happen?

Well, it was definitely the Crap ass (but sounded great) Logitechs that were over 10 yrs old - Picked up the Harmen Kardon Sound Sticks and the issue is gone - Also grabbed the Trackpad thing while I was there and it is pretty cool not having to slide a mouse around anymore

Impulse bought the Jawbone Jambox thing to for the Shitter - Way cool little speaker and is pretty cool as a speaker phone too - Made my first call from the throne while surfing on the ipad too
