Yahoo! email hacked?

Yes, I still use Yahoo! for email. I know...
Anyhow, anyone else having spam messages sent from their yahoo addy book account? Funny part is that many of the messages sent are not even in my sent folder. Did a quick google search and saw something about AOL, Yahoo, facebook and google accounts being hacked today. Something about that recent piracy law. Time for a password change or was this a hack at the server level without getting individual account passwords?
Anyone else?

I receive random spam from my friends' Yahoo accounts randomly.

Move over to Gmail. You'll be glad you did.

Ironcially I get the same thing via gmail also on occassion. Yahoo emails are great for using to sign up for message boards, online giveaways and other things you dont want your regular email(s) getting spammed the fuck out of.

Of course gmail isnt immune either. Hell google just doesnt get it throught their thick skulls to just fucking quit "enhancing" the look of their sites. I dont want the "enhanced" gmail nor the igoogle crap they now use on their search page. Just keep it fucking simple. Thats why google became so popular.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Your account doesn't need to be hacked for someone to send out an email that has your address as the sender. just saying... but yeah, gmail FTW

How do they do that, never understood that one but did see it happen before and it would explain why they are not in my sent folder.

Just a script that spoofs your email addres over theirs. Its amazing how much effort these clowns put into doing this shit instead of doing legit programming that could make them money legally.

You dont need a script to 'spoof' an email address. Anyone can send email as any address they chiose to type in. SMTP has no authentication methods.

I have a Yahoo account and a Gmail account. The Yahoo account has been compromised and hacked a few times, but not the Gmail account so far.

I use the 2 step verification for gmail. It's a nice extra way to make your gmail more secured.

I have both Gmail and Yahoo Accts and they both get the same amount of Spam - They're Free Accts and they sell their lists, what do you expect?
