Printer Toner

Where do you buy your printer toner? Do you stick with the OEM stuff or does anyone make good aftermarket toner?

The black toner on our Dell 1320c is running low, so I am starting to shop around. So many options out there, but it is difficult to compare them as the descriptions are not that detailed. Heck, even on the Dell website they are showing two model numbers with the same description but priced differently.

Thanks!

Greg

I used to work for HP for a few years, and they push the HP original toners over clones/refills, and for good reason.

Typically the toner carts are designed to be used once, plastic gears, built in image drum etc. I've seen some printer gearing get torn up over cheap and recycled toner carts, not to mention poor print quality.

I'm sure there are some good 3rd party ones out there, but I don't know of any that I really trust.

All that said, if you find the printer cart for you Dell costs around $100, I have a whole new HP business class printer, with newish toner cart I could sell you for about $100. Use the HP for all it's worth, and Garage sale the dell.

I get all my toner and toner refilling needs taken care of by http://www.cartridgeworld.com.

They have a bunch of retail locations, great helping staff and quality materials.

Oh wait, that Dell is color, isn't it. Yeah, that's going to be expensive no matter what.

Thanks for the offer and the info.

This is a color laser and for being 2+ years old, it is in great shape. Every other printer i had before (inkjet) I felt they were disposable. Not here.

At this point I need to replace just the black and Dell is selling a 2000 page cartridge for ~$55. Not that I cannot swing that, I just would hate to throw out good money if I do not have to. Afterall, I'm a member of frugal motorcycle forum. :-)

I'll check them out, thank you.

Edit: Just FYI, the price listed on this sight for what seems like the same toner is $10 more then Dell. I am not sure if this difference will be eliminated or increased once tax and shipping will be added. I'll play with it later. Thanks anyway.

They have toner refills for cheap. Not sure if that applies to you.

Yeah, if you have a good color laser, stick with it, assuming the carts don't put you in the poor house.
