Which Tablet would allow me to download my computer programs to it like.....

My garmin TOPO software, DeLorme mapping software etc.

Really thinking of buying a couple of them but I kinda want an iPad but do they allow for putting computer software on them?
I don't want to buy some Fucken app of the same shit I paid for already.

If not which tablet if any can do what I want.

(to actually use it as a touch screen portable computer)

Thanks.

wait for the upcoming windows 8 tabs to come out. Word is that MS is going to make a big push when the OS is officially released.. Other option is to get an Android tab and have it dual boot with Win 7.

Nope.

If you have an iPhone, then the apps you've bought through the Apple store will be available on an iPad. Same goes if you have an Android phone and get an Android based tablet. I have no idea how the upcoming Windows 8 tablets will operate, since I don't give a rat's ass about them.

Really a tablet is good as a slimmed down computer. But depending on what you wish to do, it is not suitable for being a full blown replacement.

Then it's pretty much useless to me.
What a gimmick.

You have to remember that software written for a desktop, has unlimited power, relatively unlimited storage, and much higher levels of RAM and processor capabilities.

IF you could run desktop software on an iPad, I think you would be very disappointed with the performance. And beyond that, that software is designed to be used with a mouse and keyboard.

your old TOPO software and delorme is like a 72 pinto.

the old business model of expensive computer software is fading fast. in the next few years, everything will be add on apps.

pick up your iphone, open the app store, search "TOPO" the ones with a + next to it are for iphones and ipads. one purchase puts it on both

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!
