Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Nexus or Iphone 4s

I'm going to be switching from Sprint to Verizon in the next month or so, which means i have to pick a new phone.

I have it narrowed down to 3 ...

Galaxy S3
Galaxy Nexus
Iphone 4s

I'm not so concerned about a huge screen or enourmous processor power, but i do like to have newer technology. My biggest concerns as it stands, i beleive, are battery life, a good/decent camera, and as little carrier bloatware crap as possible..

Recommendations?

-Jacob

any of these can be hacked and customized to your heart's content. if you're not willing to hack it and you want something that just runs well out of the box and provides you with ease of use and loading additional free or purchased apps to for other occasional needs I'd say iPhone 4S

I'm waiting on my S III. I'm sure there will be a million posts on it over the next few weeks. Since I'm staying Android and I'll be stuck with it for the next 2 years, it seems to be the way to go for me.

I too, am waiting on the Galaxy S III & leaving Sprint for Verizon.

But whether Vzn bloats the fuck out of it remains to be seen. Europe's SGSIII's have been well received and the US S4 based SGSIII's are starting to roll out today on other carriers, so more information will be available on those soon.

I won't debate Android vs Apple, but I will say that between the SGSIII vs the Galaxy Nexus, go with the SGSIII. Unless cost is somehow a factor, the GN is very much last year's hardware.

I'm not a fan of Apple, I have both the 4S and my two year old HTC EVO and I think the EVO kills the 4S in most everything.

But...the 4S does have *much* better battery life, and the camera is surprisingly really nice when given enough light. Since the SIII isn't out yet, I can't say anything about that, but right now the Apple suits what your asking for.

If it were me, I'd wait for the SIII

So what you're saying is your EVO kills the 4S in everything but what the OP is asking for.

Not to turn this into an Apple vs Android discussion, but I don't get the haters out there. They are SO fervently against Apple, why hate so much? My guess is its because there are such fervent Apple fanboys and for some reason that bugs them.

Apple makes great stuff, but so do other companies. I think the haters (and fanboys) could use all that energy for something more productive.

Eh, it was bound to go there eventually.

I'm a technology lover. I <3 all Android and Apple phones. Even though I don't even give Android a chance any more when buying a new phone because I have seen no reason to leave Apple, it is still awesome seeing Android at the level they are.

Competition drives innovation. The more the two compete, the better they both get.

And this board needs people like LonelyRaven, Bek and Firebretha for the same reasons. If it wasn't for them, we'd all just post a picture of the late Steve Jobs in any thread like this

They aren't bad when it comes to anti-Apple people, at least you can tell they share the same love of innovation. I know a few people that nonstop just bash Apple.

I enjoy making a game out of it on Facebook when a buddy posts an article regarding something new on Android. The latest was some stupid feature about operating the camera from a bluetooth headset or some shit. His post, "Let's see Apple do this!!1i!!" Yeah, they did it a year prior buddy

Drozek - got your PM, ill let you know if i decide to go that route.

That said -- ive got the Evo now, and I would like something with better battery life. Whether the SIII fits that bill remains to be seen i suppose. Im also considering the Galaxy Nexus because of its lack of bloatware, even tho the tech is older.

That said, I'm not opposed to the 4S, I have had iphones in the past, but admittedly as an open source developer and linux/unix admin -- i have a thing for android phones.

While it would be accurate to call me an Android advocate, I don't think I'd necessarily classify myself as an Apple hater.

There are plenty of Apple haters out there, who hate Apple for irrational reasons. But I'm not one of them.

I don't care for Apple, for how they approach technology - specifically in how they choose to not let their userbase empower themselves, by locking down their ecosphere. Their choice in doing so, has both advantages and disadvantages for both them, the industry as a whole, and their audience of mundane users & power users. That being said, I fully recognize and credit Apple for doing some great things for the industry as a whole.

But as a power user myself, I much prefer the control that Android allows me to have. Granted, most US carriers do their best to interfere with that root philosophy but that's a different matter entirely.

The funny thing about that, is that there are other things that Android has pioneered long before Apple made it more popular/mainstream... perfect example being voice recognition & Siri. Point being, both sides have innovated new things and also copied other features from each other.

Really the only thing that pisses me off about Apple, is how they recently started using patents and litigation to fight Android. THAT is bullshit. Use your technology & innovation to set you apart from your competitors... not the fucked up patent/legal system for Christ's sake.

Out of curiosity, have you ever played around with a jail-broken iPhone?

I ask this because you claim all the time the Apple locks their users down to what Apple wants, which in my mind, is a great thing and apparently has worked very well for them. It simplifies everything for the common user and makes everything very easy to use and reliable.

But since you root your phone any way, why does it matter? I use to have my phone jailbroken, but reverted back to stock because when I did the last big update, I just didn't have a real reason to rejailbreak it.

I wasn't referring to you, Bek. One of the biggest apple-haters isn't on the board as much as he used to be (Burntash).

I just don't get the abject hatred some people display.

Lonely Raven's post, while not as negative as some, is a funny example. To paraphrase he said the android phone kills the iphone in all aspects, except the categories the original poster is looking for. Am I the only one that sees the irony there? What's the point of the post at all, then, except to have the ability to make a negative comment on Apple.

I try not to go in there. People's similar distaste of our president leads them to illogical conclusions and inability to see the whole picture. But then again members of the opposing political party did the same thing with GW was in office.

Like I've told Cerk, I can't wait for Romney to get elected so the world will finally be fixed and all of society's ills will be a memory. Or at the very least the Dems will get a turn to b*tch for 4 years and we can hear the Reps defend their guy.

I hear Romney is an illegal alien, like actually from space, and eats 3 puppies a day for breakfast while chatting with his buddies from some terrorist organization.

my roommate got his at&t s3 today...the blue seriously looks purple to me. and i hate white phones(other s3 color option). samsung phones always feel plasticky and fragile to me. m sorry to say but the color choices are a deal breaker for me.

im on an evo 4g with sprint still, same phone since july 2010. works fine, rooted with cyanogenmod 7. no point in getting an s3 lte on sprint and have to wait for the lte to become active.

and looking at vzw numbers, bit pricey.

now i dont know what i want. i hear all sorts of things about the iphone 5, maybe i might wait. who knows. or a surprise windows phone?
