Not to turn this into an Apple vs Android discussion, but I don't get the haters out there. They are SO fervently against Apple, why hate so much? My guess is its because there are such fervent Apple fanboys and for some reason that bugs them.
While it would be accurate to call me an Android advocate, I don't think I'd necessarily classify myself as an Apple hater.
There are plenty of Apple haters out there, who hate Apple for irrational reasons. But I'm not one of them.
I don't care for Apple, for how they approach technology - specifically in how they choose to not let their userbase empower themselves, by locking down their ecosphere. Their choice in doing so, has both advantages and disadvantages for both them, the industry as a whole, and their audience of mundane users & power users. That being said, I fully recognize and credit Apple for doing some great things for the industry as a whole.
But as a power user myself, I much prefer the control that Android allows me to have. Granted, most US carriers do their best to interfere with that root philosophy but that's a different matter entirely.
They aren't bad when it comes to anti-Apple people, at least you can tell they share the same love of innovation. I know a few people that nonstop just bash Apple.
I enjoy making a game out of it on Facebook when a buddy posts an article regarding something new on Android. The latest was some stupid feature about operating the camera from a bluetooth headset or some shit. His post, "Let's see Apple do this!!1i!!" Yeah, they did it a year prior buddy
The funny thing about that, is that there are other things that Android has pioneered long before Apple made it more popular/mainstream... perfect example being voice recognition & Siri. Point being, both sides have innovated new things and also copied other features from each other.
Really the only thing that pisses me off about Apple, is how they recently started using patents and litigation to fight Android. THAT is bullshit. Use your technology & innovation to set you apart from your competitors... not the fucked up patent/legal system for Christ's sake.
