bose series 10

Is it worth it? Right now i have bookshelf speakers and really makes it a pain to place. Im using a Pioneer vsx1022k 7.1 receiver and some bookshelf yamaha speakers that sound good, but i know there is better and smaller.

Ive tried searching the AVS forums but the problem there is everybody has their opinion and expect you to spend 2k on a set of speakers. Im in the $750-1k range for a nice wall mountable set of 5 (I already have a sub)

Generally speaking Bose anything(except headphones) are not worth it.

Even with headphones there are really good alternatives these days.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Wow they still make those?

That's the type of speakers that yuppies would get when they don't know any better.

Check ebay for current used pricing.

The Diamonds are way to big, I wanna eliminate the "bookshelf" size that i have right now. I want to wall mount em and thats why I was thinking bose, but everybody rips on em and im not gonna drop that kind of coin for some half ass speakers with a nice design.

The energy's dont look bad though

I bought a set of Psb bookshelf, center channel, sub and a marantz receiver for about $1000 at Saturday audio exchange in Lincoln Park (amazing place by the way).

I disagree with people that say Bose is crap, I think it's decent, my setup however will blow away any Bose setup no questions, and I have room to grow.

I'll throw my vote out for Definitive Technologies.

I have THIS setup with an extra sub. You can buy the speakers individually.

I am using an Onkyo NR-TX5008 to power them. They are really good, cost effective speakers. I use them for "all channel stereo" listening at high volume and home theater duty. They are pretty impressive for their size. When I first bought them I figured it would be a stop gap until I could swing something bigger/better. Honestly, I don't see the need. The details in the sound watching movies is really nice. I'm sure there are better setups but you'd triple (or more) your price for a 4 or 5% increase in sound quality. Just my $0.02...

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
