Get a new cord from a computer store and try to turn it back on. Sounds funny but stick your nose up to the power supply. Do you smelll ozone(that burning electronics smell)?

Which cable is shot, the stand AC power cord from the wall to the DC power invertor, or the cable to the laptop. A lot of the Dell's have proprietary plugs on them, so I doubt youi'll be able to get a replacement from any place other tahn Dell/Ebay/3rd party.

Which model is the laptop?

you might have to send it back to dell if it was on when it happened, if you fried something you may have to get some internal fuses fixed but its doubtful... leme know what happens...

Your cat chewing on the power cord should not have caused any damage to the computer.

Does the power cord plug directly into the computer or through an external brick power supply?

If it's a normal AC cord plugging directly into the computer, it shouldn't have caused any damage.

It's all right here. Your laptop is fine. Cat chewing on the cord is like pulling the plug from the wall. You would need a lightning strike to have caused any damage. Sorry about your cat Poor kitty.

If the computer this power supply came from is still working, I'm sure your laptop is fine

I think that you're going to have to buy a new one from Dell, 3rd party companies(targus, igo)don't support that model for power. Typically with Dell notebooks you can buy a wall adapter to power it but not to charge it, they lock out the 3rd party manufacturers from selling those. I think Igo makes most of the Dell power adapters too.
