Ok computer guys

My wifes laptop is acting strange. Anything she creates in word is printing backwards. She can emailme the file and I print it and its fine, but when she prints (on the same printer, networked system) it comes out backwards. Any ideas???

Backwards meaning reads right to left, or all the characters are backwards?

Literal mirror image, if you flip it over and read through the paper it looks fine

Completely uninstall the printer, get the newest driver and then reinstall the printer and let us know what happens.

Also, is it XP SP2? Office 2003?

Get rid of Microblowz office, and get OpenOffice for free. Still compatible with Microblowz, but less bs.

Yes, do this to verify if it's a profile-specific issue or not. Sounds like a setting, but I've never seen this one before

Ive seen it in Publisher for doing iron-on transfers, but never in word. I am guessing its a non-office issue, but the way the printer is reading the spooler.

I'm going to run a scan shortly, I'm waiting for her to finish this project before I start surgery and blow up her machine

On a side note, I was playing around with the trend micro house call scanner on my system while I was waiting, Sure enough it found a virus on my machie that Norton didnt detect.

depends on the author. some just are emb-e-dded in a doc. others instantiate themselves into memory and start infecting anything & everything they can... also depends on what kind of antivirus protection you have running...they all work differently so YMMV

(tony wtf is with the vbulletin software starring out e-m-b-e-d???)

Not neccessarily, the other computers security settings in office could be blocking macros from running.

She;s still working on it. Numerous virus's, got rid of most of them, she tried printing last night and it was fine after getting rid of some of them, now its back to its backwards games.

Still trying some things suggested here.
