Computer Guru's please help!!! I am going insane!!!

Help!! Everytime I print in Word the shit is coming out backwards, meaning if I held the back of the paper towards me up in the air I could read the printing through the paper. I have printed from Powerpoint and email and it has come out allright. What the hell is wrong with this stupid crap!! I have homeowrk to do and I can't print anything the right way. I just checked off print a mirror image box hoping it would come out OK and it did not!!!!!! It is still freaking backwards. I have gotten rid of all the viruses and trojans I found.

My only other thought on this is that a virus possibly did some registry damage.

Was office installed and running fine for a period of time before the problems?

Did the problem appear after an update for the os or office, or install of another program?

Is this a new printer? Tony mentioned it was networked...is the computer that it is physically attached too running the same OS? Or is it on a print server?

Is it only one file in Word, or any file in Word? If you open a Word file from a disk created on another computer does it print reverse too?

There are so many variables....dont know where to start without sitting in front of it.

To rule Office out as the problem (or confirm it is the problem), I would re-install office. I know its cliche, but it tends to work if you changed a setting inadvertantly and cant find how to change it back.............

Sorry I cant be of more help Tony.......

Edit: Do you have another printer laying around? If you do install it locally (on the computer you're having the problem) and see if it prints right. If it does, your problem lies with the All-in-one driver or spool format, if it doesnt, at least you know its an issue with Word.

It was printing fine before we got anew modem for the broadband internet. Then it would not print at all and Tony fixed that.

I am actually doing an online chat with someone from HP right now, we will see what they come up with.

I think I stumped the HP guy. It just printed backwards from notepad too.

Did I mention that the printer works fine from the main computer it is just my laptop with this issue.

I was going to recommend that you download and install the latest driver but it looks like you already tried that.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...tem=mp-17885-4

The problem may not be on the computer end but the printer end. Have you tried resetting you printer to the factory settings?

restore factory defaults
You can restore the original factory settings to what they were when you
purchased your HP OfficeJet. Choosing to restore your factory defaults restores
all settings, except date information.
You can perform this process from the front panel only.
1 Press Menu.
2 Press 7, then press 3.
This selects Maintenance, and then selects Restore Factory Defaults.
The factory default settings are restored.

A good way to test the printer is to goto

Start---------Settings-------------Control Panel

Select printers and faxes--------right click on your printer and select properties

You should have an option to print a test page. Does the test page come out backwards?

Whats odd is I see the test page from printer properties prints fine and so does anything she creates in powerpoint. So I think we can rule the printer out especially since the printer works flawlessly when printing from the main computer that its connected too which is my dell on my desk.

I'm about ready to format that laptop of hers.

Try to reinstall office before you reformat the whole thing......dont do a repair, uninstall it completely, reboot, make sure all OS updates are applied, reboot, then re-install office...............

Also, make sure you turn off the system restore feature when you are removing viruses, if they have a low level hook, and at reboot the computer cant find it, it will throw it right back on from the last restore point! Again!

Depends on where you save them and what functions youre using.....backup your .pst file for outlook in a new folder on your c: drive. Make sure your data files, .doc,.xls,.ppt etc...are not stored in office application folders.

It should only remove the applications and registry enteries. If you are not comfortable with this, dont do it.......If you lose files, I dont want Tony gunning for me!

Man this is wierd. its got to be something in the printer driver or related. cause if you email the exact file to my system it will print fine. so its either in how word is sending it to the printer, or in the network anybody thinki this could somehow be a linksys issue with how its handling the data transfer?

Shut down your laptop, remove te wireless card, take laptop over to my desk and plug blue lan cable that is wedged in the brass circle thing to the left o the phone and plug it into your lan port. now boot up and try printing. This should rule out if you are transmitting fucked up from your wireless card.
