trackball - suck.
Good for excel or word but for games suck big time.

Get good mousepad with gel padding, and good mouse.
mx510 from logitech, I love it.

Try something ergonomic. This is the one I use -

Plus, it's cheap.

a guy here at work just gave me that one to try out and Im using it now, seams better, i need to get a gel pad too. Im going to the store right now

As far as gaming, I cant do that at work and thats were I spend most of my computer time, so I just need an "ergo" mouse that works well. At home I have a kick as controller with fans in the grips and endless buttons, (just reminded me I need to go pick up Doom lll)

I liked the trackball when I used it, but it takes some getting used to.

I have one of the microsoft cordless mice. It was a little pricey, but I used one of those best buy coupons and so it wasn't too bad. Between its nice size/shape and the gel pad I got, my wrists feel ok.

It also helps to have a good desk chair. Don't sit up too high, or you will bend your wrist too much.

That is why they invented joysticks and gamepads. I would never use a mouse or a trackball for games.

All in what you get used to...use a trackball for my games and find it much tougher with a mouse now.
