Windows XP Help

We have an employee that left the company. When she had her computer the passwords for her user name and the administrator have been changed. Obviuosly the best solution is to find out directly from her what they are......several calls in no response yet.....we haven't lost hope.

Assuming we don't hear from her does anyone know of anyway around this so we can access to the files on her computer?

I saw that I can buy this http://www.winternals.com/Products/ErdCommander/ and it should work but I'd rather not if there's a way. I've also thought about taking her hard drive out and installing it as a slave in another computer.....that too may also work.

Any other ideas beside brute force operations?

Thanks in advance.

Administrator password = "blank" ---maybe it was never changed

on a domain you should be able to sign in as a domain admin and get in there.

or reload XP over it. the programs won't operate but you'd be able to access the files.

installing it as a slave will work, you have to inherit all the files, but thats not hard, it's just changing the ownership of all the files. It's probably easier then running over XP with XP again, that will work to, but just slaving the drive is probably easier.

like a few others have mentioned if it's on a domain, your domain admin UN/PW will be able to access the files on the PC, allowing you to copy them off of the PC, and distrubuite accordingly
