Computer Viruses

I have always been up to date on my virus software and have never had a problem. But I ran mine overnight last night and it came up finding some trojan virus, and the software deleted it. Is there anything I need to worry about? Things seem to be working fine, but I don't want to get screwed with saved passwords, etc. What (if any) are the appropriate next steps?

If it deleted it, you are fine.

I always run it again after it is cleaned to ensure that there is nothing left that is potentially damaging. Be sure to make sure that your definitions are current as well.

Completely shutdown your computer, reboot and run the scan again. If it finds it again, there may be a registry hook, take the name or type of the virus that your scanner finds(if it finds it again) and search the web at reputable virus vendor sites for a specific tool for that trojan. Also, if your anti-virus software supports it, run the Command Line version of your scanner with necessary switches before the OS starts.

"When in doubt, use full throttle. It may not improve your situation, but it will end the suspense."

It's probably just crap sitting in your Internet Temporary Files. Completely purge your IE temp, and while you're at it type %TEMP% into Start->Run and delete all those files too.

Then rerun the scan.

I deal with that virus all the time. It's nothing major. What everyone else has been saying is right.

It's in use, either because a valid program is using it or virus/spyware/etc.

Reboot into safe mode and try to delete the files.
