The Geek Patrol

I have a new, but dusty, Dell laptop that needs to be set up, configured yada yada yada. I have a wireless network at home that I cant find the installation disk(if thats the right term).

I also need to transfer a bunch of files including Outlook to my new laptop. I dont know how to do any of this. I mean any of it.

Has anyone ever used these guys and your thoughts if you did?

Without much info to go on about old vs new, thought I'd offer it up since it usually takes a whole minute to do.

thanks again but Im not looking for any advice on doing this myself. Its not what I do.
Im looking for a qualified individual who knows what theyre doing so I dont have to worry about it
Gracias

I should also add that money is not the issue here. I have no problem paying someone for their efforts

Do you have a fast internet connection, if its been sitting for awhile you will need to download alot of MB's of patches etc. Are you going to the suspension seminar? If so bring it, and I will set it up for you for free, then ship it back to you via UPS. If I lived closer to you I would do it for you at your house, but its kindof a haul. PM me if interested, those geek guys are typically paper MCSE's and take way to long to set shit up then charge you by the hour, and half the time dont do it right. They aren't concerned about security and best practices, just that it works when they leave, and when you get hacked, they figure you will call them again so they can rape you some more.

Kegger, I appreciate the offer but Im not in the computer setup, repair, installation, configuration, networking business.

This will all be foreign to me. I just have way too much on my mind to continue thinking about this. Im willing to pay someone to do it and am just looking for someone knowledgeable at this point.

Thanks for the offer though.

I got that from the original post, just saying not to use those guys, and offering to do it for free if we could work out the logistics. Take up Chris on his offer to "SETUP" your computer and then destroy your lawn with his fiddy!

Peace!

ok, just a thought. I cant provide any feedback on the geeksquad, but I can tell you that what you are asking is pretty low level and any tech without his head in his ass should be able to take care of you easily.

I am just saying, that some guy in my neighborhood used them to ONLY set-up a wireless access point, it took them like 6 hours and they charged him like $800.00..........when I heard about it, even though he was a friend of another neighbor and I dont know him, I went to his house, and told him I would do shit like that for free being the nice guy that I am. I hate to see people get ripped off..................Anyway, that was pretty low level stuff, and sounds like it didnt go so well.........................

I thought it was a hard drive swap. Either way with that attitude your gonna get screwed no matter what. That's what you get for moving out to the boon docks. i bet if your cow was sick or your mobile home broke down theres enough people out there with that knowledge to fix it in a heartbeat!

I treat threads like books!

i figure all I need to do is read the 1st and last post to get the idea.

A book gets the 1st and last chapter read, everything else is filler
