FYI....the wonders of Comcast!

I have been without internet service since Wednesday late evening.....Comcast are a bunch of morons, with the worse service imaginable I have to come to the library and use their wireless network. Qudos to Barrington Area Library, comfy chairs, nice fireplace, starbucks quality coffee, pretty helpful librarians

I think I know more than the morons that Comcast uses as techs The F__king idiots keeps trying modems, and none of them work....no shit....all my computers see the modem...even the others wireless ones in the neighborhood.....I just can't connect....they say the problem will be fixed by Sunday around 4 PM I have been harassing them at least 3 times a day. If they resolve my problems, I'm dumping them....in favor of DSL...SBC/ATT I'll get a package deal from them, phone, data and satellite.

+1 Rick, I feel your pain. See if woway.com in is your area. I haven't had any problems with them and their prices are better and they don't offer short term promotions. Your bill will stay that way for years.

Damn I am about to switch to Comcast, mostly for HDTV but this has me thinking. My DSL may not be as fast but it has been rock solid over the past 5 years.

If you have problems still I will try and contact people. My only problem is you're in our North system and I don't know anyone at all up in the North, but I might know people who do. PM me Monday if you still have problems and I'll see what I can do for you.

I think every business has problems at 1 time or another.

I'm switching to Comcast this Thursday

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

Here is the thing with Comcast. You will be fine with them as long as you never have a problem. I had two problems arise when I had their service. One problem was with them not honoring the promotion the sent me in the mail. I faxed various representatives the promotion with no changes to my bill. Every time you call them you will never be able to speak to the same person twice, thus your billing problem will never get solved. No employee has a personal extension so you will not be able to call them back.

The other problem I had was with my modem. I purchased the modem before I had the service. My internet connection didn't work (I knew it wasn't the modem, it actually was the splitter outside of the house), but no tech from Comcast could figure that out. The first tech came and swaped my modem out with a Comcast modem. Since he didn't know that the cold temps on my bad splitter caused my connection to fail at night, the connection dropped out that same night that he switched my modem. I fixed the problem by replacing the splitter outside. All was fine until I decided I had enough of fighting them with a promotion they wouldn't honor, so I decided to go to WOW. Now, because the tech took my modem that I bought and gave me a Comcast modem, Comcast wanted their modem back when I cancelled the service. I then told them the tech took my modem and gave me the Comcast modem, showed them the receipts of when I purchased it (they made copies at the nearest Comcast facility) and the paperwork showing the mac address of my old modem and their new modem. Yet months later, I find a charge on my credit report for $150 for the modem their tech took from me . I am tired of fighting them and I will just turn in their modem and buy another one. I will never trust Comcast again.

I've been using comcast internet for 8 years now. alwasy been rock solid for me. I love it, I would never go to DSL as its slow and it supports SBC which has been over charging for phone for years with thier monopoly, so they can shove it.

I've been using Comcast since I moved here 3 years ago. Each year when my bill is about to go up I call and talk to them and get renewed promotions. When I bought my house in January Comcast gave me a promotion for a year that actually lowered my cable/internet bill.

Now, I have had problems. When connecting everything in my house the promotion and internet got messed up. I was able to get ahold of the original woman who gave me the deal and got it straightened out.

Some of the customer service people are real blockheads, but overall I'm happy with Comcast and I'll stick with them.

Finally back up......they should have had this problem solved Friday. All they did was replaced the splitter & fittings in the garage and the modem started again.....actually the guy was shocked that the orginial installer and the last two times they came out to fix problems they didn't catch this. What a bunch of maroons.....

Yea, some of their field service needs help. Their phone support is better than it was. But then again I've never had any serious problems.

Overall you will at some point have a problem with each provider. When you say "Comcast sucks" it might very well be true...but every other service will suck at one point or another. It takes one bad experience to leave a sour taste in the mouth. At this point I'd suggest to stick with them...DSL does not even come close in performance to what I get with Comcast and I'd tolerate even worse service from Comcast before ever switching to DSL.

3 years here in IL love , it has issue when bought house due to former owner jacking up all the wiring, stuff was spilt all over, tech came out saw the mess in attic and basement and rather than mess with it all he asked if was ok to just re do new stuff. I said yes, he called another guy to come help. They hooked me up all over and garage too. I gave them fiddy and called it a day.. No problems since....

(3) years no probs...Just last week I called them after my bill went UP, gave them the "switching to DSL" spiel and they knocked off $20 bucks a month and locked it for a year.
BTW, I have only the main connection outside the house.....everything else (splitters) is inside, away from the elements.

Did you say "I'd like to cancel." Or that you were thinking of leaving? I'm eligible for promo's again in a week or two from my previous year.
