Looking to get an LCD monitor, but which one?

Due to consolidating of desks in our loft I need to say good-bye to my 17" Viewsonic CRT. I am going to get an LCD monitor but I am a bit overwhelmed at the different choices.

What do you guys suggest?

I'm using my PC mainly for light gaming, surfing, and storing my music.

Thanks!

I don't want to spend more than $300 on one. I was on Newegg and saw a few 19"ers for around $200.

My original plan was to use the 40" Sony Bravia HDTV that I won at work as my monitor, but I don't know how do-able that would be gaming-wise.

Seriously? I'd have to get a wireless keyboard and mouse. The TV is in the living room.

@ or buy a monitor.

Has anyone used their HDTV as a monitor? How does it look?

I like my Dell 19" Ultrasharp. I decided against widescreen since I watch zero movies on it and would need at least a 22"er to get the same height as a 19" 4:3.

Looks like its on sale too!

That's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

So do you guys recommend I go with the 19" monitor vs. using my LCD TV as a monitor?

I just got a new video card and it's got settings to use an LCD TV with it. Maybe I should just go this way.

That was the original plan, but I wasn't sure how good stuff would look. After the advice here I'm going to go with the TV.

Thanks, all.
