Ram is good

Just a random tech post.

My notebook only had 256. I got it for a song from my idiot father in law as he won it playing on line poker and had no use for it. Aside from that it was a nice little Gateway to take on the road. As I added "stuff" or tried to multitask it was getting painfully slow. Circuit City had 512 ddr2 for $35 after rebates. For $70 it now has a meg. Damn....

Now I need to get my new AMD dual core Vista home machine up to 2 megs from 1. I'm not even sure that will help. I now think Vista needs a bleeding edge graphics card as much as a fast processor and lots o ram. Man Vista a pain!

I had 1 Gig for over a year and it was more or less enough. But recently I started using MS SQL Server 2005 heavily and guess what? I had to add another gig. Now that's a difference .

did you ever work with computers that you would put some sort of card with little holes in to run stuff?? My G-ma showed me some of those from when she was into computers back in the day.

What did they really do before there was any sort of a monitor?? I guess i'd be screwed if i lived 30 years ago
