Pop Up after computer starts up...

Well, I don't know what happened. I re-started my computer the other day and now I am getting a "Powered by Yahoo Internet" pop-up with changing ads. One pop-up and if you right click CLOSE or hit the "X", it does not come back.

I have done the virus and other scans - nothing.
Gone through the Temp folders - zero.
Gone through Internet Explorer - nadda.

Computer not acting funny, not slower, no other pop-ups while it's logged on to the internet and Outlook has not been affected/infected either.

This only occurs after the computer has been turned back on after shutting down or re-start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's probably some yahoo ad software you accidentally installed that is set to run on startup, you can disable it by going to

Start
Run
Type "msconfig"
Click on the Startup Tab
Look for a yahoo Program Startup item

De-select it, and click OK,
You can restart it then to make the changes, or wait till later. Be careful in there, you don't want to disable an important program like Norton or mcafee

If you installed yahoo messenger or an other yahoo application, you may have gotten other crap as well. Go to "add remove programs" in the control panel and uninstall the yahoo programs that you don't use.

If that doesn't work, PM me or call me, I need more vinyl

Bingo..... uninstall their software! you don't need it to connect, check out dslreports.com and in the SBC/Yahoo! section they explain how to setup your modem so you don't need their shitty connection software.

What sucks about some of the programs is that they are set to install other stuff. You often have to uncheck the box for the extras rather than check it by default. It's the price of some free software I guess.
