Vonage crap

Im growing impatient with Vonage issues.

Im always getting a recording that says: This telephone line is unable to connect to the Vonage network

and I dont get a dialtone...nada..zip

What the F does that mean ? I have Int service and plenty of speed.

Signed,
getting pizzed in Spring Grove

I dont know
the 2 line modem that vonage sent

more than a 20 minute wait for CS - fockers

I went through the check list online
when rebooting the vonage modem the power light flashes 4 times until it connects to the server and then stays on solid. should be working fine

but....its not

try unplugging your analog telephone adapter for >2 minutes and then plug it back in. the vonage servers should see that you're offline and then drop your device's network registration from their cache. when you reconnect, hopefully you'll get a connection on a more responsive server.

a quick powercycle won't do any good because you'll need time to have your device be recognized as offline from their servers.

this is one of the reasons I don't like the offerings from Vonage. The analog adapter is locked down so you can't login to it and tweak any of the values that might adjust for your screwy network connection from your ISP.

not the phone line, just power off the entire vonage unit for about 2 minutes. hopefully that'll clear it up (I'm basing this assumption on my voip service though and assuming that Vonage uses similar parameters for their setup)

WOW... didn't know it went that far... how the hell would they know I had boobs anyway? Silly boy.

Seriously, I was just stating that it can work well. Although I have heard rumors that it may get pushed into Bankruptcy due to all the big bell's lawsuites against them.

tried calling your cell phone, but I guess you're probably on customer service hold from hell

ok, you rebooted everything, but did you leave it off for a bit before turning it back on? it's important that you wait a while before turning it back on so that your modem has time to become unregistered from their side. normally it sends a heartbeat packet to the vonage server several times/minute. it may take a while before it no longer sees this heartbeat and stops trying to communicate with your modem/adapter

well when they do come back from hold, just be a bitch and ask how frequent the registration periods are and ask them to check the logs to see if your device is registering regularly.

it may give you a clue as to whether you need to bitch at your ISP or if they need to fix things on their end.

network drops occur on your computer all the time too, but because you don't have some program that's constantly active, you just aren't as aware of those outages.
