Palm IIIc question

I came across a Palm IIIc for free earlier this week, she won't turn on and I don't have a charger or a cradle for her. I'm curious as to whether I should drop the $20 on a new cradle. The owner doesn't know if it works or not, but given that it doesn't have a hard drive I wonder whether or not the memory can actually go bad. Is there a way to reinstall everything if I get it charged again? Or is this a lost cause? I don't need anything fancy but something to schedule meetings and the like would be nice and since it was free, what the hell. So what do you all think? Worth dropping the $20 on a cradle or just pony up and spend $150 for a new entry level PDA from Palm?

I'll check it tonight at home. It's fully functional of course, I just now have a palm treo phone so clearly I dont need separate palm based organizer. I'll try to remember to wipe it and bring it so you can check it out.

If you can score a Palm V, I have a free docking cradle for you.
