probably announced now so that it paves the way for further website compatibility with the upcoming iphone browser. there's still too many sites out there geared towards IE only

I don't think Safari will make much of an impact on Windows users. Windows users like Windows fonts and Apple users like Apple fonts...I think on some level that makes us not like the opposing products.
