VMware

I am running version 1.0.2 build -39867

I have been working with VMware for the first time. I have a problem where my host (win2k3 sp2) cannot browse C$ on the guests (win2k3 sp2) and visa versa. However, I can browse the C$ on the host or the guest from all other servers on the network. I can find a guest in My Network Places, but when I click on it, I get no response.

I can ping by name or IP from host to guest and visa versa.

All servers are on the same subnet.

I am using bridged networking and all servers use the same physical NIC.

The firewall is not enabled on the host or the guests.

Is this normal behavior or is it a NAT issue?

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Turns out there is a problem with Win2k3 and SP2.

This fixed our problem.

the short form...

make sure these 2 keys exist and are set as so...

# EnableRSS(DWORD)= 0

# DisableTaskOffload(DWORD)=1

in this location

# HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.
