Comprehending What You Read

I have this Grad class and 95% of it is reading articles on line. When I read them on the computer I can not get anything out if them. I have to print hard copies to read.

Does anyone else have this issue with reading things online?

I just finished my masters, and for the majority of assignments i had to do were reading articles and writing papers. The university and class was a joke. And since i do not like to read, I found by reading the first couple of pages of any article or skimming the first couple of lines of each paragraph gave you enough information. If I was to read a 30 page article, it will all be blah blah after the first page.

Its been documented that reading stuff online is HARDER than reading items in print. Web producers generally shoot for 25% more concise verbage when writing for online rather than print. Web is 72/dpi, print is 300dpi (dots per inch) and so, its clearer and easier on the eyes to read print material.

Like you I print out everything thats longer than one page. I prefer to read long pieces laying down and relaxing instead of sitting in front of a PC with distractions like the intarwebs and CLSB.
