video capture/editing software help needed

I need recommendations for video capture and editing software. My company is going to start taping my team and I doing our morning forecasts and posting them to our website. Can anyone recommend software that's easy to use?

TIA.

What platform? Mac, Windows, Linux? What camera? dv, VHSC, will you capture directly into the computer?

Mac: iMovie is more than fine enough. Comes bundled w/ iLife. Overkill would be Final Cut Pro.

Windows: I heard good things about Sony Vegas. It's overkill but will do what you want. You might even get by w/ the basic no frills stuff that comes bundled w/ a camera. Adobe Premier or Elements (stripped down version) will also work. Perhaps even Windows Movie Maker.

Linux: Cinelerra

The plan is to use a small camera to capture directly to the PC. We'll record our forecast, watch it, if we like it post it to the site, if not re-record it.

Windows XP Office. Nothing too fancy, yet. We are working on a small studio for later, this is just for the interim.

Adobe Premier, eh? Someone else suggested that.

Not a bad idea. I've used it before with success. I'll ask PR what they think.
