Cheap Ram?

Anyone know were to get cheap Ram? I need 2 G for a new Toshiba laptop. The laptop was only $350 and came with crappy vista. I dual booted it with XP in order to get onto my VPN (which isn't Vista supported). It runs SLOW on 512 (duh!)...so I want to max it out at 2G's but don't want to spend a lot.

Also, my specialty is Oracle databases, so I know NOTHING about home pc's and laptops. How hard is it for me to install Ram? I don't want to screw up my laptop as I need it for work.

What model Toshiba?

I personally don't ever buy 'cheap' RAM as you're just asking for trouble (unstable system annoys user and gets 'accidentely' run over by family car)

Crucial.com is where I typically get stuff from; good stuff that isn't on the expensive end.

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

Hi guys-
Thanks for the advice. I guess I should clarify, I didn't mean 'cheap' as in off brand stuff that may be 'ify'. I just meant a brand that is ok, and maybe not so expensive. Looks like Ram is pretty cheap anyhow. Tiger Direct warehouse is 10 minutes from my house....I may swing by there tomorrow to see what they have.

Thanks again for the help.

Wow, what about New Egg?

Tiger has been really hit or miss with me. Maybe they have changed in the past few years, I don't know.

Arch's list is good. Pretty much any name brand with lifetime warranty will do for ya.
