Desktop Shortcut for Website

Is there a way to just create an icon on the desktop that when you open it it takes you to the website.

TIA

Yes.

Assuming a recent version of Windows.

Right click an empty space on the desktop, a menu will pop up.
Click on Shortcut.
It should open a dialog box looking for a location of what you want the shortcut to point to.
Simply cut and paste the URL of the web page in there, click next and it will ask you to name it. Then finish it off. DONE

The easiest way would probably be to navigate to the site and then go to "File" on the browser and then go to "Sent To" and then select shortcut to desktop.

My name is JB, people call me JB

It's not one of my shots, I don't recall that many letters being Out Of Order.

Just drag and drop the small icon next to the address out to your desktop. That's the easiest way.

+1 on this method.

once the shortcut is on your desktop, you can right click it, select properties and then click the "change icon" button if you want to assign another Icon to it. there are some really kewl icons here: http://www.iconarchive.com/
