Blackberry software

I have a Blackberry Curve (8320) and was wondering if anybody knows of a way to download the calender and contacts to your PC, manage/re-organize, and then send back to the Blackberry without having to buy some POS third party software?

The software that comes with the phone should allow you to do that. I haven't looked at mine yet but that is what it says on the software.

I have the Desktop Manager installed and so far I don't see anything that will allow me to download the calender and contacts. It allows me to install new applications (3rd party and BB) and it does a backup.

The software that came with it is the Blackberry Destop Manager.

Install it, hook up your BB with a USB cable, go under Intellisync and then Configure PIM. This feature will be greyed out if the BB is not hooked up to the PC via the USB cable. And this sync will only work when you plug the BB into the PC. It won't do it wirelessly without a BES (Backberry Enterprise Server). But there is some software called a desktop redirector that you can install, but outlook and the redirector will always need to be running on your PC with an internet connection.

If you want to also sync to a PST, go under Configure Reconciliation and look to the bottom for Personal Folder.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Where is Intellisync? See image attached. BTW, I won't be using Outlook so no need for .PST.

I think I found Intellisync. If you have Desktop Manager 4.2.2.14 then go Synchronize (Synchronize window pops up) > go to Configuration tab > click on Configure Sync button.

You will find options to sync the calender, address book, memo pad, tasks.

I don't want to download my work email or contacts so now my next question is how do I download my contacts to a .csv file.

You can choose from a list of applications to sync to.

Also, I have an older version then you do, I am on 4.1.0.8.

The settings you are looking for may be under syncronize.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

I found this under help:

To transfer data between your device and computer, import and export it as ASCII data. For example, you can export your Address Book as an ASCII text file, then import the text file into your spreadsheet program on your desktop.

Field names on the device become column titles when they are exported into text files. Similarly, when you import a text file to your device, include the field names at the top of the file. For example:

"Last Name","First Name","Company Name", "",

"Goldsmith","Tanya","Research In Motion Limited", "",

Note: The ASCII Importer/Exporter does not support recurring appointments or meetings. Recurring appointments appear as individual appointments in the exported text file.
1. Connect your device to your computer.

2. Open the Desktop Manager.

3. Double-click the Intellisync icon.

4. Click Configure PIM.

5. Click an application.

6. Click Choose.

7. In the Available Translators list, select ASCII Importer/Exporter.

8. Click Options.

9. In the Field Identification section, select or type a character to separate fields.

Note: When you export data, the characters that you select are inserted into the text file. When you import data, these characters are used to import the data to your device properly. Quotation marks separated by commas represent blank fields.
10. Select Single quotation marks, Double quotation marks, or None to mark the start and end of a field.

11. Click OK.

12. Select one of the following options:

To import records from the computer to the device, select the Import option.

To export records from the device to the computer, select the Export option.

To synchronize application data between the device and the computer, select the Synchronize option.

13. Type the file or folder name of the location where the data is stored, or click Browse to locate the file or folder.

Note: If you export data from more than one application to the same text file, the data from the second application replaces the data from the first application. If you export data from more than one application, you should import to more than one file, and assign a unique name to each file.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.
