HELP - Tire Warmer Repair

In a nutshell, I got "screwed big time"

Got brand new digital SumoMoto-USA tire warmers in the Spring and only got to use them twice!!! I have been trying like hell to get the company to warranty them, refund, fix.....SOMETHING! They gave me the runaround in my emails and now they won't respond at all and there is no contact number for them. They are based in Detroit. I even spoke to the BBB about them and they filed a report, but it's still not going to rectify the problem.

So here's my question.....
Is anyone on here tire-warmer-technical-savvy???
Or do you know where I can take them to get repaired.

No, I don't know what's wrong with them, whether it's the box or the actual warmers. They just will not heat up at all.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY DIRECTION YOU MAY HAVE FOR ME

Chicken Hawk will repair any warmers, for a fee of course.

Welcome to the world of getting what you pay for. SumoMoto has been the topic of the shittiest warmers made on the WERA board for a couple of years now. The service youre recieving now is typical.

Good luck.

Yeah, it's a big "I-TOLD-YOU-SO-SLAP-IN-THE-FACE"

Thanks, I know Chicken Hawk repairs all brands and I know they would do a great job, but I wanted to see if there was another option before sending them into them, OR, if it's even worth spending the money to get them fixed.

Did they not turn on all of the sudden, or were you using them and they stopped working? If they stopped working while you were using them, most likely something in the electronics got fried. If you grabbed them one day and they didn't turn on, it could be anything. Loose/shorted/broken connection, burnt out components, etc.

Do they have any lights? Does nothing happen when you turn them on?

Aside from the other stuff that was said, a quick continuity check of the coil that runs through the warmer would be easy to check. However, I doubt both of them would fail at the same time. Unless they are run in series.

I posted pix in my original post. There is power because the box lights up.
They worked one track day just fine, when I went to my next track day they turned on but wouldn't heat up.

From poking around on the interwebz it seems like most people with the problem you are describing have been tracing it back to the connectors from the warmers to the box. If that is the problem it looks like there are 2 choices. Replace the connectors with a higher quality one or cut them out and hardwire them.

side note, that I am sure you know already BUT, make sure you turn them OFF when you go out for your session. I don't know what the deal is with those. If you did leave them turned on without being mounted I don't know what the side effect with that brand might be...other than the obvious fire hazard.

Send them to Dave at Chicken Hawk and just get it corrected. I watched Monte highside from a bad warmer on the rear. His incident taught me to always feel the warmer and tire before I go out to ride.

Hrmm, it is weird that the box turns on, yet they both don't work. That leads me to believe that the box isn't working right. I'm sure safety first has a volt meter. You can check if the box is outputting voltage. I'm assuming it's not, and that something is fried in the box. If it's easy to open, take a look at the circuit board, and see if there are any char marks.

Grazie mia cara amica, lei e un gioiello!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tire warmers are a very prized item to borrow in my opinion because they are so delicate. I borrowed a set of Chicken Hawks from my co-worker and the switch broke off right in my hand. Had to send them to Chicken Hawk to have it replaced and it wasn't cheap

I must say, Chicken Hawk has SUPERB customer service and great turn-around!

its the connectors. i got a hold of them and they sent me new(different style) connectors. i have yet to change them. i need to get a new soldering gun first. let me know if i can be of any help.

just checked the link from auditech. those connectors are different from the the ones they sent me. they look a little better and don't need to be soldered.
