Question For The Racers-To-Be

What bike will you be racing next year? Will you be racing the bike you are currently running, ie 600 or 1000? Or will you be racing something with a little less power like an SV650, 250 2T or 4T, or something of similar power?

Personally, I would like to run an SV650 or an MD250h if I can get my hands on one as I think that would be the smarter thing to do as a first time racer. Just curious what everyone else will be running just to get an idea of what classes people will be racing in next year.

I want to get out atleast once next year, I'll be rocking my current bike though, can't afford to buy another bike just for racing. Heck I can't even afford racing, but it's something I want to do atleast once

I'm going to build at least one secret weapon this fall / winter and maybe a second one.

I'm really leaning towards building a supersingle right now. A 60 hp 450 that weighs 200 pounds would be the absolute shit. Catch me if you can on your land missiles.

i was thinking about this as well. they have a 450 supersingle race series in europe. i just wonder how much it would cost to build one of those and make the engine bullet proof. what i really want to do is build out an ape sxv 450 or 550 since it is a twin and turn that into a roadrace bike.

i might just end up racing the 675 since it is already prepped to race. if i do that, then i was thinking of buying a salvaged 675 as a parts bike.

Jeff Malone has a stock motor supersingle with almost 3 years on it and no issues. I think just as long as you keep it stock, check the valve clearances, gear it correctly and be concious about not over reving the shit out it they last for a while.

Dude - Road America is 1.5 hrs away and so is Badger Kart Club - $20 to $40 track days - That DRZ would be a tad heavy and under powered on the track

racing the Ninja 250 again to defend my class championship

Tons of fun and cheap. Anyone else getting 17 races out of a rear tire?

Plenty of people up here roadrace 450's with tard wheels, and dominate the UL class made up of Tards, Duc 620's, EX500's and GS500's. You don't need to spend $15K.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

I have always wanted to do a track day. I hear that they are fun, and that the grids are fuller than racing. I think I wanna check it out.

And the cool thing, is I can ride any size bike in any class and change anytime I want. When someone is faster, it is because they are on a larger bike.

Ah booooo, no CCS class.

It's a spec class with WERA and CRA. A person could always petition CCS and try and get it on the grid. I'd love to come race some other tracks.

SV650. Cheap on gas. Easy on tires. Only two cylinders to maintain. Put money into the suspension and ride the wheels off of it.
