Almost ready for a track day. Track options?

So I am working on getting the last few things bought/ready to do a track day.

I was hoping Joliet had something in July I could make, but they do not. Black hawk is over 4 hours away and my "buddy" doesn't want to go.

Is there any track around indy or anything?

Guess all else fails I will just have to try to go to blackhawk with nesba by myself.

Is black hawk "slick"? in some spots? Buddy of mine who quit doing track days I guess feels this way.

Thanks for any input, can't wait to get out there.

In my opinion, Blackhawk is a very fun track to ride. Pavement is predictable, environment/paddock is great, and it's a good track to learn on. If you can swing next weekend's NESBA event we'd be thrilled to have you come out!

Doing a track day will only help enhance your riding skills, no matter where you decide to do your first one. Just go out to learn, be safe, and have fun!!

I'm kinda surprised to see no ACC event in July, but STT does have a date for putnam on 7/23-24. Not quite sure why Nesba is not running there this year.

My biggest reason for wanting to still make the trip to black hawk over putnam is to meet some of you.

I never realized putnam was soo close so thank you to all that pointed it out. I just missed what appeared to be a big weekend at Joliet over Memorial day I see.

Thanks ladies and gents.

There are NESBA guys that come up from Springfield. At 2:30 south of ACC I expect you are somewhere south of Bloomington (near Lincoln)? If you want to try for a ride share, post up on the NESBA board looking for a ride share.

Thundein Thurs are OUT...You're so last year.

ACC's schedule is simply filled to the max and since these weekday events are joint ventures between STT/ACC I have to work with ACC to fit in where I can.

I may try a weekday mid Sept if I can get a date, but it appears this ONE WOW will be the only weekday event.

Details to follow in a new thread as soon as the IT dept gets it on the STT site

The only bad track is the one you don't go to. Blackhawk is great. Autobahn is good. Putnam is excellent. Come out to an event. The track community is very friendly, you'll make lots of new friends.

Hmmmm Jedi mind tricks.... Not a bad idea. We should try this at the next event.

If you want to find a flaw with a track, you'll find one.
The fact is, you identify the risk and deal with it.

Wet damp track? Go slower and use less lean angle.

Less then perfect run off in a corner? Then go through that corner at 8/10th's

The pavement isn't perfect? Find a line that gives you the best grip.

But sitting at home cleaning the holiday silverware isn't nearly as much fun.

Ok, I call trademark use on flyin fridays.

I tried freaky fast by Jimmy John's was upset about it's use and their drivers stuffed me in T2 north and I went off track. I took the hint and stopped using the terminology.
