My progress so far w/ pictures.

1st track day ever last summer. This is my first motorcycle which I bought mid summer 2009.

Man do I suck.

2nd track day at RA. I still suck.

At least the bike looks good.

Early August with STT.

Look how clean my new leathers are. I am so bad ass with my knee on the ground.

My new to me track bike. $1500+ $3000 parts and labor. It seemed like a good deal until I started refreshing and fixing it.

First day out Sep 2010. This is my first time on a sport bike.

Also, my first crash ever.

Last track day of last year, October with Motovid. My pace had improved to a consistent 1:21 and I was moved out of I into Motovid A.

I was feeling pretty good and could not wait until the next summer. I would find out in time how much fitness you can lose over the winter.

shiny paintjob = crash for sure!!

looks good, though I'd argue the speed triple is a sportbike.

May 2011, I couldn't find any April pictures but lets just say I was not feeling good. I did manage to ride with NESBA again and received my I bump.

I believe this was a Motovid riders clinic. The clinics are great. The progress I made in each clinic was well worth the little bit of extra money it cost. I did one last year and one at the beginning of summer this year.

Here is one of my first videos from RA with NESBA. I was working with Ron Hix who I new wouldn't sugar coat my deficiencies.

You guys are fast, I wasn't finished yet. The speed triple is still considered a standard given its's riding position and handle bar set up. At any rate I had never ridden a bike with clip ons before.

This brings us to Aug 19th 2011. I was finally able to get consecutive 1:19s. I was stuck at 1:20 for most of the summer. I'm not sure how much more I can get on this bike but I'm sure there is a second or two there somewhere.

Finally I rode with NESBA this past weekend. I rode Sunday and Monday. You couldn't have asked for better weather. I did my first session kind of putting around. I decided I would talk to a CR after lunch about a possible bump to A.

The second session I went out and lined up in front. There was one bike in front of me. I passed him in the first couple of corners and caught the last group as I finished my first lap. I spent the rest of the session just working through traffic at a good pace. I hadn't ridden in an I group for a while, Motovid A for most of my track days, so i was surprised how easily I was moving around people. I was feeling like a rockstar. I was passed by a CR who hung out in front of me for the last lap and a half. The session ended so I stopped to talk to the CR to get any input. He said I was riding well but wasn't behind me that long. A minute or so later another CR pulled up and said he had been behind me for much of the session and wanted to move me up to A. I was excited to be moved up to A but my rockstar feeling ended abruptly on my first A session. So that is where I am at so far. I rode most Sunday and Monday in A. It went well but I definitely want to be faster.

Congrats on the A bump. You will get faster riding with faster people. Its humbling when the really fast guys go by but I'm sure those Intermediate guys you lapped were thinking the same about you. The fun part is trying to latch on to those fast guys for a few turns and learn something. The hard part can be getting used to hard race passes. But if they didn't think you could handle it you wouldn't be there. Anyway hope to see you out there soon Jim. Congrats again!

I find it hard to stay with a lot of people because some of the other bikes have so much more power than me. I know in a couple of corners where I can stay close after power I have been able to pick up my pace. I would like to follow a fast SV guy. I think that's where I could learn a lot.

I should have been more specific, I was thinking of the 80s magnas like the v45 and v65.

^I know, I'm working on it. I think I make slow look good and everyone knows looking cool is priority number 1. When I show that picture to my co-workers and tell them I am an AMA superstar they can't tell how fast I'm going.
