What's wrong with Mladin?

Am I the only one that likes this guy? Seems like every time he opens his mouth he gets ripped up. Now he comments on not playing the winning riders national anthem (a la the Olympics) and he's getting blasted. When he bitched the 1000cc V-twins were too fast he was a whiner but when they start bitching about his new 1000cc Gixxer everyone agrees. He created a big stir when he basically tried to be a spokesman for rider safety and got called a whiner. The AMA is more concerned with putting on a show and bringing in money and he called them on it. I think he is justified in his opinions but he's the only one with the balls to actually confront the promoters.

Besides, he can ride the hell out of that Gixxer. He blows a tire at 160mph and makes it look like he planned it.

My wife thinks we're a bunch of Top Gun wannabes with our call signs, so for future reference, I'm Roger

Perhaps it has to do with his general persona and attitude towards other people. There are guys that are very talented yet approachable and very cool when you talk to them.

I'll poke and make fun of Mladin being a whiner but there's no arguing the guy is very talented. Anyone who wins an AMA championship, much less 4, deserves respect as a rider.

Anyone read the new Road Racing World article where they tested the Dunlops on the new liter bikes? Mladin was whining about not being able to keep up with the 10R and the 1000RR on his Gixxer.

BTW, 192.3mph out of the box for the CBR1000RR... That's $#)$ing incredible!!!

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I'm a MM fan too - the guy does whine (so do a lot of other racers) - but Matt also has the goods to back-up his bitching and a lot of times he's calling a spade a spade. I also think Matt works harder than most in the paddock - he was the only factory rider I saw at road america on a thursday (they don't allow the top 10 factory guys to prac on thursday...) hanging out with his crew and talking to fans.

As was said earlier - he's one of the few riders in the paddock willing to stand up to race/track officals and tell them things are unsafe or whatever. Having said all that - it's gonna be a long year for the Suzi guys

I give the guy credit for being a rider but his mouth does tend to get him in trouble. There is a right way and wrong way to voice your opinion and he's not good at it.

Mat's (spelled with 1 t not 2D) actually a very nice guy. He is very outspoken and straight to the point as many other racers from Oz are (Doohan did and still does the same thing and no one bashed him). Really sad that alot of fans jump on the 'hate' bandwagon for certain racers.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

As is whining Bitch ... spelling games are so much fun

While I think he's a talented competitor, he sure comes off as an arrogant ass. I guess he's got the right... but that doesn't mean I have to like him

Personally I like the guy. He says what he feels and there is no fault in that. My only concern or question is what does he really have to prove by staying in the AMA. Am I alone in feeling he should move up? Or does he just like it here?

Mladin is awesome. I love watching the guy ride. hes the one I'm cheering for when we are at raod america every summer.

But I'm not sitting around talking to him,I could care less what his attitude is like. as long as he's ahead of all the tem honda guys I'm happy so I can give my buddy mark all sorts of shit.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I'm a huge fan of Mladin as well. The guy is simply amazing. I think people have a problem with the things he says not because it's whining or bitching or whatever you want to call it but because it's Mat Mladin. You wouldn't hear any negative talk from the press or fans if it was someone likeable like Ben Bostrom who says the things Mladin says.
