some Rossi love

6 meg WMV video

Good read from Crash.net

The 24-year-old put in a best lap time of 2min 3.80secs on the latest spec M1, 0.022secs quicker than his best RCV lap in the Malaysian Grand Prix - despite having not ridden for nearly two months...

"My first impressions are quite good. The Yamaha was certainly more sensitive than the Honda, which I'd been told to expect," he revealed. "Sincerely, I expected more big problems, but more or less the bike is ok. It has some things less than Honda, but also some good, and it is basically not so bad.

it's SO on for next season!!!

from soup - day two info

As track temperatures matched the scorching 41 degrees of the Malaysian Grand Prix in October 2003 Valentino Rossi (Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha Team) cut his lap time down to a best of 2m 03.17 seconds. This was more than six tenths of a second faster than his best time from day one of this three-day session. The Italian completed 66 laps, among them a brief ride on a Yamaha M1 with a different engine specification.

Max ran a best of 2m 02.585s in 50 laps - but word on the CE board is that he used a Q tire for those times.

To Honda, To Kawasaki, to all of them. You could give him a 50 and he could still do good. Well...I guess Yamaha isn't far in performance from a 50 though, .

a Q tire is a Qualifying tire - it's super sticky and last only for a few laps. A lot of people don't like them because they reward a different style of riding then what you see in an actual race and as such aren't an accurate gauge of race performance.

Day three closes up and The Doctor is On The Pace!

crash.net

Valentino Rossi capped an impressive Yamaha debut by trimming a further 0.4secs from his previous best M1 lap at Sepang today putting him within 0.05secs of Sete Gibernau and 0.165secs of Honda pace setter Max Biaggi, present at the circuit a few days previously.

"We did some good work. The time (2mins 2.75secs) we made was good for a first test, but tyres and chassis settings were the main aim here. I've really enjoyed my first three days with Yamaha, I'm very happy," smiled Vale.

rossi is god?

I thought rossi was supposed to be off the pace this year at least in the early part of the season.
Go Yamaha!!!!
rossi is amazing to pull off those times and he dosen't know the bike very well yet.
he really may turn out to be the greatest of our time.
