Yates (spoiler)

Yates is an ASS!!!

You know I've heard about year after year how he treats lappers but his latest stunt is just ridiculous. Getting up and kicking someone in the back, what an asshole!

Agreed....
That was uncalled for.
They caught it all on TV as well so he's gonna pay.

From Superbikeplant.com
A very troubling incident happened today in the Daytona 200 when factory Suzuki rider Aaron Yates collided with a slower rider on lap 48. Yates and the slower rider, Anthony Fania on the KWS Suzuki 1000.

The crash itself was not pretty, with the bike colliding and then sliding off the track and hitting the track side barriers. You can go to sleep tonight knowing that both riders blame the other for the incident.

After the crash is when the troubling aspects occurred.

Moments after the crash, live television caught Yates, obviously incensed, apparently jumping on Fania as he lay partially prone on the ground. Fania fled the scene, and Yates after a few moments followed after him and body-blocked him into the barriers and pushed him as well. A pit lane incident followed between members of the teams, say eye-witnesses.

AMA Pro Racing is known to be investigating the entire incident.

Hot rumor pulsing through the paddock at the moment is that Fania is pressing charges against Yates and the police have been summoned. Stay tuned.

What a pathetic little child Yates is.
Am I nut's or is it HIS resposibillity to make a clean pass, allowing the other rider room? It really looked like he crowded the slower bike, and sideswiped him. Then to have his spastic little fit was just too much. Fania should've reached through Yates' visor and poked him in the eye's 3 Stooges style.
I don't know if calling the police is warrented, but it's Fania's option to do so.
Unreal.

You know AMA has to put a suspension on him and fine him.
I don't think he has any points to take away this early in the season.
Another thing is this is not a very pretty image for Yoshimura
I wonder if they are going to can him or something.

He's made mistakes before but I've lost a lot of respect for him over this.

Yes, he has done shit like this before. If AMA doesn't penalize him sufficiently we should start a grass roots compaign.

Yates is an ASS bumper stickers, signs, etc. We could have a photo contest for the most original placement of a Yates is an ASS bumper sticker. How tired would he get of people placing those bumper stickers on everything in his pit area, including his transporter, at every race? Yates and a big finger T-shirts.

I'm bummed.
I was a fan.. I mean I've seen him screw up before but
I thought it was neat the way he would slide around on that bike and treat it like a 125.... but how could he do this ?

I mean drop kick someone in the back when they are getting up from a crash... unbelievable

I like how Speed TV side stepped the whole thing and the anouncers didn't talk about it. Obviously they had to have a decision from someone to see if it was something they should talk about and then later Despain addressed it.

I didn't really do anything, I didn't really kick him, I was just going through the motions... but yeah, I'm sure the AMA is going to do something to me...

If i were in charge Yates would spend the rest of his days bustin tires in the pits, I was a Yates fan as well, but I dont stand for unsportsman like conduct, thats one of the things I've been complaining about with Nascar.

Yates deserves jail time. There is NO ROOM IN RACING for this. I lost all respect for Yates after witnessing that. Personally Yosh Suzuki should hand him his walking papers immediately.

yup, I was a big fan of Yates. What an asshole, who knows the damage he could've done if that guy was hurt. On the replay it looked like the other guy stood it up a bit, but he had position, it was up to Yates to make the clean pass.....asshole.

Yates says that Fania's admission to getting into the corner too hot is some kind of justification for Yate's actions. Like Yates never makes mistakes out there. I'll buy some bumper stickers if someone makes them. Maybe the little kid pissing on Yate's number.

I forgot about this and mostly agree, but maybe a bit heavier on the punishment... suspensions or heavy fine for making AMA look like WWF on TV.

quote from another site.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
begin quote
Forget about Biaggi and Rossi a few years back? Biaggi forces Rossi off the track, words, blah, blah, Rossi's boys "rough-up" Biaggi , Biaggi has a black eye that he blames on a mosquito bite? Two factory riders still with a ride, no files charged, no body goes to jail, no lawsuits, but the officials of MotoGP call Biaggi and Rossi into the back room (similiar to how Bill France would handle it) and tells them to cut their [email protected] out. That is the same way this should be handled.

As for the scuffle in the pits, that may be an completely different story...

end quote

Yeah, but that doesn't show the other camera angle that shows Yates drop-kicking Fania in the back while he's trying to get to his feet.

Yates knows he F'd up and now he's trying to spin it however he can.. The guy egged me on... The guy admitted fault.... Yeah, whatever.

what lap was it when yates blew the chicane, he was ridding aggresive the whole race, the video shows his fault, he didnt leave room for error on either ones part, he thought he'd just muscle through.

I say some emails to Yoshimura and Suzuki are in order!

let see countless cool down lap crashers $$$$$$$$$
laying in the track at VIR making snow angels?????
and now this a physical assault on a fellow racer???

There is no place in racing for shit like this, hes a talented racer, someone i like to watch, but not anymore. what an ass!

Yates was NOT at fault here - I looked at the replay a few times and if you watch the backmarker he does go wide. If you watch the space between him and the inside corner it gets bigger. It also looks like the backmarker is going in too hot or gets caught up in Yates draft and gets scared. I'M NOT SAYING THIS EXCUSES HIS BEHAVIOR THO

For a second - imagine your racing for FIRST place at the Daytona 200 (Yates was in 2nd) - and some POS backmarker who can't even hold his line (imo) takes you out and then talks shit after the crash. I'd drop-kick him too!! Think of the adrenaline running through you at the 200 - think for a second you have a shot at WINNING the damn thing - and then to have it taken away by a guy who has no chance of a top 10 finsih and who talks smack to you afterwards?

I can't believe what an uproar this is causing and that people want to write letters!!!! Did anyone write letters when Duhammel threw rocks on the racing surface? Or when Rossi cut off Biaggi's line at 180 or so? (right before the famous flip off)? Or when Curtis tried to KICK a backmarker?

Did you guys see him ride his heart out in the supersport race? Guy is an emotional racer... but to press charges? LOL!!!!!!!!!! SAD! I just hope they go after Tommy Lasorta too then!!!
