POST BHF report

I guess I'll start this thread since Igot to come home early. I pushed the front in turn 5, ran wide and crashed. I don't know if I actually lost the front on the dirt off-line or the curbing. I have abroken thumb and really pulled my other shoulder (so I can't type for shit) Busted the plastics all around, bent left footpeg, broke right clipon, looks like shit but still holding all the fluids and turns over.

PS Can they make a cast in the shape of a throttle?

My wife thinks we're a bunch of Top Gun wannabes with our call signs, so for future reference, I'm Roger

yeah roger that sucked, so you musta went to the hospitol after, good thing you did!
heal up quick!

wow i did both days, i am tierd as hell!
but kick ass time!!!!!
when i wasnt being cock blocked, i was running 25-27 averaging, and i hit a 24 too right at the end of the day, i think i was gonna get bumped up, but then they threw a red flag, i pitted added some oil cause my bike was making a noise...good thing, i didnt go back out..i figured end on a good note which was the last lap at 1:24.7....when i got back to kruz's house, we narrowed it down to maybe a exhaust leak off the header "i still have to look into it more. i hope thats all it is."

also after saturday 2nd session, i called 4&6 and cancelled all my work...i HAVE to get a smaller bike..my 9r is just to heavy, and after speaking to 3 other 9r owners..2 said, NO i wouldnt do it again, and the other said...its ALOT better but he knows he can be faster on a smaller bike, and after running the times i were on my bike, with race tires...I GOT TO GET A SMALLER BIKE!

anyway, ill post more, later and some pics maybe once i check them out, JACK from SLIDERPHOTO.COM took some AWESOME!!! pictures!

later, i got 124 threads and 589post to check out.

Dammit. So if i'd have kept it upright I'd have got the bump (Max and I were pacing each other pretty good all day)

Right now my desire to go to the track is at an all time low but maybe someday I'll come out and ride with Lupi.

What a weekend, it was a really great start to this season of racing.

I'll start by giving those who deserve it huge congrats, not only did rdrash, and maks get bumped but there's a little more to it.

First of all rdrash managed to get over the fact that the last time he was out there he ran off really fast in turn one. Got out there was feeling confident and immediately starting taking seconds off his lap time. Way to go man, that's a huge way to come back from a mishap.

Second was maks, this guy managed to just keep dropping lap time, and dropping lap times until finally he went out for that one last take it easy session, only to put in a really fast lap. Really cool man!

As for me, I was happy riding the SV the bike feels great and I'm really looking forward to racing the lightweight classes this summer especially against, grasshopper, and johnny It's going to be a blast this season.

It was fun meeting all you guys.. thanks for making a guy feel welcome and for the hospitality.

Hopefully next time I'll be riding with you.

Man I took 90 home .. around Rockford there were some wicked side blasts of wind. I found out that if I got across from an suv and about 3 cars back all the wind would come over the front of the bike instead of blasting from the side and made the rest of the ride a lot better, but it was kinda rough for awhile there.

I got to use my IPass for the 1st time today... Hell yeah !!! only one catch . I gotta remember to not drive through the middle of those booths . theres a big dip or drain there...I think I got some air going through the 1st one.

Dave,
glad you had a good time. Care to share what times you were running? Did you happen to catch a friend of mine that was out there for the first time in 2 years on a Honda RS250? He said he did a best lap of 1:15 on saturday. Oh yeah... and Add me to the list of guys you look forward to racing against sucka! You going down!

1:24.90, in case anyone was wondering. My best time before that was a 1:26.xx and I didn't plan on pushing it at all that last session but freakin' Grasshopper, LBK, and the other SV guy all ended up gridding behind me and.. come on.. who wants to get passed by a wimpy SV, so I ran a couple 1:25s with that 1:24 in between.

Roger, that sucks you crashed.. I only got to see the bike do it's last topple and you on your knees, but it seemed like you lost the front or something and then it hit the curbing and flipped, hence the right side damage. Sorry to hear about the thumb, it looked like you were just gonna be a little sore when you left so that sucks.

Anyways, props to my bumping partners (Chris and Jon)--you guys were a good motivation to keep nagging the control riders. I wish we all weren't so tired when we finally got bumped up so we could've gotten some more, better laps in at the end.

Nice to see everyone out there (even if you weren't riding) and nice meeting a few new people. Jack, thanks for the awesome photos and Dave, thanks a bunch for bringing my bike down there and back up for me!

See everyone next time out.

First off, Roger I'm glad to hear you are okay. I saw your thumb as I was heading out for a session and it looked pretty f-ed up. Give it time to heal and get back out on that track. I still better see you at Bike Night. Now's a good time to get some sharkskinz. It took me having a get-off at the exact same spot you did to get race glass on my 9R.

Speaking of my 9R, Ken's right. This bike is just heavy. I didn't notice it as much last year, but since I got my 10R I'm really noticing it. I'm saying I'll wait until next season to track the 10R..... maybe....

Congrats again to Jon and Maks for bumping to "I" with me. I was getting my lap times down, but not as much as Maks. My best for the weekend was a 1:28 something. My averages when I wasn't stuck behind traffic was around 1:33. I still have a lot of work. I wasn't the slowest guy in the "I" group, but I was close.

All in all it was a great weekend. I can't wait to do it again. I finally got my TeamGoFast stickers and they'll be on the bike next trackday. Now, its bed time..... damn I'm tired!

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

WOW I saw that you made the bump and was pissed cause I thought he bumped you guys at the pace we were running. But it sounds like you knocked about 6 seconds off that. Good job. The only way I was going to make up time was on the brakes or motor. I was cornering about as well as my balls would let me. Did you run your fast times while following Mike Bender? I would have been quicker not following him. He made sure to brake way early so we didn't get over our heads and was rolling out of the throttle so I didn't run over him with my 1000cc.

Congrats again guys.

Congrats to the bump up to I for you guys.

I only made it out for Saturday to shake down the R1 for track purpose. With the bike being new I didn't get a chance to prep it for the Advanced class so I ran Intermediate. I spent most of Sat. morning trying to figure out suspension settings and getting used to a completely different bike. I had the stock tires on (Dunlop 218) that actually held up pretty well for street rubber. The suspension was way off however. I definitely knew something was not right when the rear wheel would keep coming off the ground everytime I got on the brakes hard. The power difference between the R1 compared to the R6 is ridiculous. I only used 3 gears the whole day and that last one probably wasn't even necessary. Spooked myself a bit when I scraped my right stock peg on the ground a lifted my rear wheel. Luckily no other drama followed that event.

The afternoon was cut really short. I missed the first session back from lunch b/c I just had my new Diablo Corsas mounted and didn't have time to get them on my bike. The 2nd session was dedicated to scrubing in the tires so I didn't want to push it. The third session I was starting to get comfortable with the bike and all the changes I had made. I missed the last session b/c they never announced the I group over the intercom and I didn't know they were out until it was too late. Only 2 sessions in the afternoon sucks.

The R1 has some great potential. Even though I was turning the same lap times on the R1 as I was with my track R6, I feel pretty good about that considering that I was running a stock bike w/ hardly any work done to it. The R1 is a bigger bike and I needed to muscle it a little more on turn in but was happy with how it handled overall. Not too different from my R6. And getting some rust out at the beginning of the season doesn't make me feel so bad about my results. My fast time of the day was 1:22.19 with the majority of my laps in the 1:23-range. There is a lot more traffic to manage in the I group so I definitely want to get my bike ready for A next time.

Thanks to Ernie for the giving my bike a ride out to the track. I had a good time and can't wait to get the R1 out on the track again.

Glad to hear you are ok. Bikes can be fixed a lot easier than people. Heal up and come back out when you are ready!

Max, Chills & Roadrash!
Grats on the bumps to "I." Looks like I have my work cut out for me whenever I get back on the track.

Tom,
I wish, I actually didn't ride at all this weekend. Champ and I went out there today just to say hi to people and deliver some 10R lights. No track time for me for a while. Just means I have to work that much harder when I get out there!

So come out of retirement and keep me company!

Ciao,
Lupi
