Both the Kawi 6RR and the 10R have slipper clutches. Are you going to keep your 9R for the street or sell 'er?

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Of course Im partial to the Honda 600RR, it is a little heavy compared to the others, but you could trim it down some....my only other possibility would be an R6.

Kaws and Zooks are just not in the running...don't like 'em never will.

hum with all the specs in the kawi line, i think the ZX6RR has alot of good features for the track.

only thing is.....the front tire on that is a 120/65, whats gonna happen when i use a 120/70 front profile tire?

also too, dry weight 355lbs is that light?

I'm with Kruz on this one. Stick with the 600RR or the R6. Of course I'm partial to the R6 Next year, there's a chance the R6 will have an undertail exhaust...although, if it's a track bike, I don't know if I want the added cost of an undertail. Hell, you might be able to convince me to sell you mine and all my extras (seriously)

I'm looking for a new street bike. Don't know if the R6 is going to be soley a track bike or not. It's up in the air. I'd look at a new R6.

I saw a new 600RR at Willy World and that thing looks mean. The R6 also is a solid choice.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

according to specs, the R6 is 2 pounds heavyier and has just a touch more bigger rotors, and rake is .05 less the the zx6rr.

doesnt measure up to the zx6rr if you ask me, not to mention all the other features the zx6rr has over ther R6.

time to look at honds

I would say 355 lbs is pretty light !! (assuming you are talking about the bike - and not the rider )

Did you say "NEW" bike - as in brand new ?? Man - that's gonna cost ya:

Approximate numbers:
600cc sportbike 6,000+
with tax, almost $7,000

you roll it out the door - and your lucky if its worth $5,500

AND its NOT track ready
- got to break it in
- get some rearset ($300)
- get some tires ($300)
- maybe SS line ($100)
- need sliders ($80)**

** they cost a little extra if you don't want then to fall off

I bet you could spend close to $8,000 for a "NEW" track bike.

If you go up on the WERA board, you can probably find an 02 or 03 600cc bike with performance mods, suspension mods, and ALL the track goodies around $5,000.

I pulled these numbers out of my @SS - but you get the idea

I would go the slightly used already prepped route...preferably someone who just did trackdays or limited racing and is getting out of the sport.

I wouldn't take the Yamaha out of consideration... spares are plentiful and comparatively cheap, and the current track record at Blackhawk is held by a guy riding an R6 (Larry Denning).

You'll need to upgrade the suspension regardless of what you buy, and odds are would need to re-spring a used bike to match your weight anyway.

Eeither Ken is pulling our leg again (& he's gonna 'cancel' his order tomorrow), or he's gonna make a bunch of us pretty jealous with his new track ride.

I do think its a good call to not track the heavy ZX-9. All that power has no affect while breaking & cornerning, while all that weight has a big affect on both !!

the only people that get zx6rr are people that are restricted to 600cc for racing (the zx6rr is NOT 636cc) and posers that don't know the diff between zx6r and zx6rr. Goin back to a smaller engine bike, i'd go with the zx6r with almost 40 extra cc's. For the difference in price between the two, you can make the zx6r better than the zx6rr.

ugh, ok screw it!

i talked to my boys, they said my 9r done up with a good rider, can do 9's at blackhawk!

so i said screw it again, and since my shock is setting there, i told him cool, get the rest of the stuff in, lets get it done!

these guys wont let me down and i trust them, if they can make me a 1:09 blackhawk bike..then i got my work cut out for me to make it happen!

so screw all this...time to buy a new street bike.

Ken remember the 636 and 6rr use pretty much the same parts. Minus clutch and swingarm, unless you plan on moding the motor. Supposedly the slipper clutch will fit the 636, but I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

Odysseys... just an opionion of a knucklehead here so take it for what it is. You should probably get a 600. Unless that 9R will be faster, lighter, and handle as good or better than a Supersport R1, the likelihood of the 9R being a 1:09 at blackhawk bike is highly unlikely. Your current bike with Mladin on it will probably do 1:09's.
