Damn I look good!!! (new leathers just came in)

I had been in the market for a new set of leathers for the past few months. I have a Joe Rocket 2 piece Speedmaster suit, and while it has protected me quite well for 1 1/2 track seasons, I was ready for something new. After shopping around and reading reviews, I decided to forego an off-the-rack suit and get a custom one by Syed.

The cost was just a little more than a new Speedmaster suit, and this one fits perfectly. I even designed the colors and pattern myself (I've gotta match my bikes). Its highly perforated, too, which will help because I used to roast in my old suit.

Here are a couple of pics:

I can't fly that Star Destroyer around, damn thing weighs like 35 lbs.

I got my name on the back so everyone in "I" would know who was passing them.

Very Nice Chris! .................for a lime green suit. About how much does something like that run, $1000-$1500?

Great looking suit!

Grover, I got an XES custom from Moto-heaven.com. They were less expensive than Syed, fully featured, and I liked the design better.

Just checked their website, and they now have them online.

Phil at Moto-heaven did an excellent job of responding to my emails efficiently. I had a difficult time with Syed not responding to my questions.

Chills why did you go the custom suit route? I am very oddly sized in my opinion, all my height is in my legs, I have a short torso. I am scared that if I get a one piece suit that I am never going to be able to find one that fits. I guess I am just asking what is the purpose of a custom suit? Just to get it to fit that much better? Or purely for the custom graphics and lettering?

Thanks, everyone. I'm pretty happy with the suit. I can't wait for Barber to wear it.

Rick, you know I'm colorblind. I'd have to be to not go blind looking at your technicolor Fizzer.

Grover, because I did a custom job with the colors and design the cost was a bit over $1k. Syed called me as soon as they got my order. All ya do is get their catalog and its got all the instructions you need. Have someone measure you and it'll turn out.

MMRacing- I went the custom route because I'm not a normal sized guy. I'm 5'7" and it was hard to find stuff that fit me. I have the smallest size JR Speedmaster, and the jacket is just too big. The shoulders bunch up near my helmet, and the pants are a little long. With Syed I got a perfect size, with the perforation I wanted, the armor I wanted, a hump on the back, and of course the colors and my name on the back. Most importantly, the fit. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a suit and not have it fit perfectly.

GREEN RANGER GO!

Chris...why did you go with Syed over, say...Barnacle Bill's?

I've been thinking about a full perf one piece as well. Did you sell the Speedmaster yet? I've got one as well, and while its a very durable and sharp suit with great protection, Im thinking a one piece would be so much better for the track. I would think I would still be able to get some decent $$$ for my Speedmaster. I bought the 2 piece so I could wear the jacket on the street, but you know I don't ride sportbikes on the street anymore.

There isn't any particular reason I went with Syed over Barnacle Bill's or another custom suit maker. Rdrash has a Syed and likes it, as does KBOlsen. I liked the options Syed offered in their catalog, and their price was much less than the off-the-rack Alpinestars I was considering.

I haven't sold my Speedmaster yet. I'm going to put it on eBay in the spring. If I get a couple hundred for it I'll be happy. Its got a little rash... and its green... lol.

If you're really thinking about getting a 1 piece suit, have Syed send you a catalog. It lists the options, like perforations, armor, collar type, etc and their prices. It also has specific directions on how to measure yourself if you decide to buy one.

If you're going to be doing multiple trackdays at a pace beyond the Beginner group you probably need a one piece suit. A two piece is okay and will work, but if the worst were to happen...........well you know the rest of that ugly story.

I've had both Barnacle Bill and Syed suits and you can't go wrong with either. Both are well made and very durable. I have put about 5-6 huge crashes on my Syeds and they are still in good shape. I wear Alpinestars now, but I will probably go back to Vanson/Helimot this year. Having a suit that fits well is so much nicer than a suit that won't let you move around. Barnacle Bill has done all the alterations to any of my suits.

What height/weight/body type are you?
