mental preparation

How do you guys get ready for the track season? After spending the winter riding the couch I'm feeling rusty. That combined with the fact that I'm working my ass off and not finding time to ride (I haven't been on the bike yet) puts me in the position of going to BHF on the 17th with the winter cobwebs still in my brain. I'm reading TOTW II again and I've done thousands of laps of BHF in my head but it's no substitute for the muscle memory. You guys have the same problem first time out?

My wife thinks we're a bunch of Top Gun wannabes with our call signs, so for future reference, I'm Roger

Errrrrr get out and ride No book is going to give you what ANY riding does. And your work outs should be every morning, year round, not two weeks before you hit the track, now you'll be sore and fighting muscle fatigue

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

Reading TOTW is always a good idea before season. TAKE IT SLOW the first time out there. Odds are the weather won't be perfect and you will be rusty after the winter. Move your brake markers a little closer, don't hit the gas so hard. Before hitting the track check to make sure the bike is in good shape. If it's streetable, at least take a few laps around the block and get some brake checks in.

Second that, just don't go out and try to rip laps like you did last year. I'm actually going to be taping something to my tripple trees for RA to remind me of this so I gradually get back into it. Crashing my first weekend out doesn't do anything for me.

I'm drawing a sportbike leaned over, then a big not symbol through it so I remember to not lean the bike over too hard.

just take your time! no matter how quick it comes back, take your time.

if you ride withien your limits youll find those limits getting smoother and smoother, till you want to reach for another level, THEN its ride smooth and keep your mind sharp.

It should only take a session to clean out the cob webs, it will all come right back.

There are a few of us in you boots Blue...our only bike is a trackbike, so besides terrorizing the neighborhood, we won't have ridden until the 17th.

Prepping my bike and checking it over with a fine tooth comb helps me mentally prepare for the track.

I make sure everything is fresh and tight...I do this before every trackday.

I've never been prepared, just ask LBK and Grover.

I knew I didn't read that question correctly.

I was just trying to get in touch with Mark to find out if he had any enduro plans for Fasttrax or WERA. There's a six hour WERA national at Grattan in July but, I'd never survive that one alone. If I don't get some folks to race an enduro with in the next couple of days I'm going to shoot for RA this month. I have to have the carburation looked at immediately an get the belly pan finished.

Well man that's tough because Mark is now about 15 minutes away from me so I can get in touch with him and see, on the other hand though I'm going to be at RA this month so I would say head on up there man!

Thanks, Y'all

My self esteem is at an all time even keel and that might throw me over the edge into a positive state.
