Question About Lap Timers

Ok....so I'm a noobie to the track, but am hooked after the first day. So now I'm looking at all the fun toys I can blow my money on. A lap timer is one of them! I plan on getting one before my next event at blackhawk...but am looking for suggestions.

Looks like a lot of people are using the XT Ultra-Lap timer. And it would appear I can get a pretty good deal on these on ebay. But do I just need to get the timer itself? I assume the transmitter is already set up at the track correct? Anything else I need to know about these little guys would be great.

Thanks!

Just get the timer. The chances of you being at a trackday with out someone having a transmitter is slim to none.

catch the nesba guys up in WI or IN and buy it at the track if you're there doing a day. just tell them to bring one for you and pay them there. no sales tax

Love my XT Ultra-Lap timer. Especially when I remember to bring fresh batteries for it!!
