Road America - Camping

Since RA is more than 40 minutes from my house like BHF is, I suppose I'm going to want to head out to Elkhart Lake the night before. Is anyone camping onsite, or what do you guys typically do?

I asked this awhile back, serch for that thread cause there was some good info in there about camp grounds. You gonna need a campgournd, no camping at RA for track day events. I already don't like RA for being such pre madona's. I haven't been there yet, so will see after I ride around that long arse beotch!

Yup they are open, everytime I've gone the cops are surrounding the entrance to it, last time I even got to see a nice big tire fire and a couch on fire.

Not my cup of tea, I like to relax on vacation.

I've camped arcross the street from RA for the last 5 years. Great Fun and Good time. Every year there's a rumor that there wont be camping and it will be closed. 5 years ago it was like 5 bucks to camp, last year they were getting 35 bucks. Ever since the old lady died the family has been raking in the cash. That place was full to the brim last year Saturday night. There's plenty of camping on the back side of the track to. I'm pretty sure theres a couple camp grounds.

If you volunteer to corner work, they will let you in the track for free! Always short on corner workers

Oh! And Friday Night come check out the the Dairylandclassic.com at Plymouth Fairgrounds. One town away from Elkart, about a 10 minute ride from RA. I plan to race Flat Track that night. Look for 44 D

Looks like I'm staying at the track or at Seibkins.

That blows man, we've had alot of good times at that place.

Especially lighting your couch on fire, it was so cold that night we needed heat.

If anything it sounds like they plan on just being closed for this year only. Now I gotta figure out what I'm going to do with the couches I have that I was planning on burning this year.

Plymouth Rock campgrounds (suggested by Tony)
920-892-4252

I called there and it's actually $16 for a single person in their overflow area. A campiong spot w/ power is $30 a night.

I also called Road America and they verified that the on-site camping will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

I just found this place:

Quote:
Maple Leaf Inn
(920) 893-6111
N5565 Highway 57, Plymouth

A 12-room inn featuring private baths, single, double and queen beds available, Cable TV, microwave & refrigerator, truck & large vehicle parking, dining nearby, convenient access to Highways 57 & 23, 10 minutes from Road America and 15 minutes from Kohler. Weekly, weekend, race weekend and daily rates.
It'll only be $29 for a room tomorrow night, so I'm just going to do that instead of screwing with all my camping gear and dealing with the rain that might hit tomorrow afternoon/evening.

I ended up staying there. Got up there about 11 sunday night and that was the cheapest place i could find. Have to say for 29 buck they were pretty decent rooms, and the beds were COMFORTABLE. Once i got over thinking about what i was sleepin in i had a great nights sleep. Will definitely go back next time at RA
