What a crime!

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard..."

The first turn is the worst turn, between the left ear and the right one.

NOOOOO! NOOOO!

This 'effin better not be true! There's no replacement for the technical challenges of Grattan- one of the coolest tracks in the midwest. That place has been around a long time- the front straight used to be a drag strip in the sixties. Shit, I've had many a great day there.

If it's true, damn you E.J. for selling out big time.

Didn't they just put in an MX track as well? Why dump money into that if he planned on selling? Does WERA run there? Wasn't enough big money events to make it worth it?

That sounds just silly. Like there aren't miles and miles of land around there that they could build. And what, a condo there? Doesn't seem like it would be close to anything. Doesn't make sense to me....

Anybody check out RoadRacingWorld or the WERA sites to confirm this? Press releases?

Jack's right. Putting condos/housing development up 50 miles from anywhere just doesn't make sense. Housing developers want there money ASAP, putting these up in the middle of nowhere doesn't sound right.

Any chance they are talking aout making a racing community. putting condo's up at the track? I could swear I've heard about that being done at other tracks.

If that were the case, I could see creating our own version of a timeshare, get a bunch of guys to kick in and I would buy and administer the CLSB condo and we all own pat of the place.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

This sounds like possibly inaccurate information being spread based on some other changes- who knows. I'm going to call the track themselves and ask, and/or pose the question on racing boards.

This needs to be verified.

I just hung up from talking to one of the owners on the phone. His first reaction to my question was a HUGE LAUGH!

He said the six family members have 44 years invested in this place, and have no current plans to sell. He said there have ALWAYS been interested people occasionally making offers on the property, and ALWAYS rumors about Grattan disappearing, but never enough zeros to make them want to chuck it all in.

He said not to worry about it, and would appreciate the truth being spread on the internet.

If anyone else cares to verify, give them a call at (616) 691-7221

i believe they have those at TX motor speedway in fort worth. it's a nascar track, so I think they've done something like that with condos.

What is most deeply disturbing, shamefull, sadly inexcuseable, and yes, even shocking is that a long time respected senior member of this board (who ironically makes his livelihood in the local motorcycling business!) would fuel internet spread of falsehood and unsubstantiated rumor regarding a sacred and cherished jewel of local track riding- without making the 3 minute effort to verify said rumor.

BAD WHITMAN! VERY BAD WHITMAN!

The only appropriate, fair, and just punishment for this crime against us all, is clear and obvious.

Go easy on Whit, he was just trying to find out more about the situation than he knew. He knows there are lots of track riders on here with various resources to explore. You just happenned to have a good contact to disprove the rumor. I planned on checking WERA and RRW boards after work to dive into this. I dig the track, mainly because it is so damn difficult to figure out. I haven't hit it this year because I've been so damn busy.

It might be more than a rumor. The family that owns Grattan lost alot and I mean alot of money on the MX track. It is a bust. The is always a little truth in every rumor.

Ok everyone............................

I love grattan as much or more than anyone here on the board my dad and I make it a yearly event to go to "class" school there every year. Reg pridmore informed that the track is being sold, he has worked with them for years and he would have no reason to lie about this. So I believed him and my intent was to let everyone know what was up so they could schedule a track day their if they wanted to.
I HAVE NO REASON TO SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION AS YOU POINTED OUT SANDMAN I AM IN THE INDUSTRY WHAT COULD I GAIN FROM THIS,
I KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rant over.
I care about this board and only try and add things that are contributions to the general intellectual level of the board, not BS.

Relax, my man.

I was just joking around at your unfortunate expense!

Really, if anyone cares at all about this, CALL THEM! The owner's immediate response on the phone was such serious laughter, I immediately knew the real deal concerning this.

But feel free to make amends and organize us a track day anyway...
