Racingxtc7 testing out Motard?!?!?!

Yes its ture. Thanks to Rhiannon Lucente and USA international raceway in Shawano, Wis I got to finely try out super motard. Goodtimes!! I couldn't believe it when I first started dragging the pegs on that tall a$$ bike, how tight of turns you can make and how you can slide the bike. Of course I got my a$$ handed to me.

The hilly track made it quite interesting.

This is something I want to do really bad. Did they give you a loaner?
I also understand that the front rotors need to be upgraded?...how was braking?

More details Jeff.

Rhiannon Lucente was nice enough to let me take out her motard race bike. The bike only weighed 230lbs, fully done suspension, brakes and of course slicks. The bike handle awesome, really flickable, smooth power, wheelie machine, the only fault was the 4 speed gear box. Brakes were great, as good as any roadrace bike. The monster torque lightened the front end the entire lenght of all the straights, which made it move around over the hills and though the bums. The chassis was very confident inspiriting, lots of feel, so much so that within 10 laps I was pushing the front and sliding the rear some. By no means was I backing it in like Rhiannon, we heard her tires squealing from the other side of the track every lap. Rhiannon was very help full and gave me lots of tips and advice.

The track was top notch!! Beautiful facility. Very technical, smooth, flowing, friendly staff, oh yeah and they have a nice in the ground swimming pool!! How cool is that!! Next time we're there we're going to try out the rental karts. For $65 an hour you can rent a 90MPH race kart!!! Scott, the director of the track even located some fuel for my 2 stroke when I ran out.

We had a lotta fun...I like backing it in around you! You did good. Now it's my turn to try something different, I feel a two stroke in my future.
Ciao, Rhiannon

**bump* * I just watched the Shawano AMA race (it's pronounced...Shaw-no, not sha-wano.) And that racetrack looks cool but the website has no directions to the place, track map or anything!

Is there any race groups OTHER than superbikes2 in the area? They only race at Road America. Given there are a couple other kart tracks in the area, I think they could have a few more options.

Most go-kart tracks won't let full sized bikes run. None that I can find in IL. I know of one in Iowa that lets 125s and motard bikes run though. I plan on making many more trips to Shawano and out to iowa international.

I have been to that track before. We have two more races up there this year. One in September and one in October.

Who do you race with? Is it Kart racing or Motard?

I'm not excluding doing some mini (XR100) racing instead of full on supermoto racing. I'd PROBABLY get a CR250X for that. If a 450 four stroke pulls as hard as a 250 two stroke, that'd be scary in the urban cross stuff.

Looks like me and Ofugit will have some good drunken IM sessions!

I race mini motard. I have an XR50 or what started as an XR50. The only thing still an XR50 is the top half of the forks and the frame. We race at SRR in Brodhead, WI for our normal circuit. Ofugit raced up there one weekend. Our 7th race of the season is at USA and we have a 50 lap endurance race in October at USA. You should make it out to Brodhead with Ofugit sometime to race or check it out.

50 laps on a 50?? Do you have Gumby for a teammate or something? Everybody walk all funny the next day?

Any race requirements? Webpage? Ofugit, I feel an endurance team with you and me.

It is 50 miles and the course is 1 mile long at USA. You have 2 riders so 25 miles per person. We have a race this weekend at SRR that is 25 laps with the course being 1/2 mile so 12.5 miles. We had an endurance race last year at SRR that was 100 laps which would be 50 miles. It's not as bad as you think. The two websites are below. It is for sure the most fun I have had on any kind of bike ever. It is also the cheapest.

We have a race this Sunday at SRR it starts around 12ish. If you are thinking about trying this out you should come up to check it out. It is free to watch unless you want to go into the pit area then it is $10. Each race this weekend is 25 laps. PM me if you have any questions.
