Isn't it a little cold to be doing paving work? I thought the asphalt plants were all shutting down around now.

****in my best Dr. Evil voice******

" One BILLION dollars per day "

Think about it though....they are the ONLY roadrace track within 2 hours of chicagoland. This creates a high demand, then you look at what other orgs. with pretty deep pockets all use the track....." SCCA, Ferrari owns club, Porshe owners club, Lake Forest Sports Car Club, CCS Racing....ect" lets face it.....if you or I owned the track, we'd be dumb to rent it out for "less than market value" right? Plus the endless legal crap they must go through that we never hear a whole lot about....

I'm gonna try to stay positve and hope the resurfacing is done well and track rentals remain consistant.

Gingerman isn't much farther for most of you. For me, it's actually closer and it's my opinion that it's a more fun/technical course than blackhawk. Just look out for the dip on the inside of the last turn before the straight

Actually....anout 55-65 degrees is optimal for application. It actually will help it cure a little better than a 100 degree day. That's why when you see repaving construction going on and it's a main road, they are normally laying it early/late in the day or over night and not in the middle of the day. Only thing you really see being done during the day are non main travel-ways like shoulders.

I'm kinda excited about fresh surface.

Ciao,

My guess is they are leaving the concrete sections. But will see.

I wonder if a concrete company is laying the asphault?

(for those that dont know BHF's history, a asphault company poured the concrete a few years ago. Thats why teh butt print and foot prints are in 6)

Ok, This will be cool
But they better be doing it right! Ripping up the whole track and then repaving! Cuz if they don't and just pave over the old shitty track it's gonna be worse than it was last year, after the first time they have a car event there.

But if they repave it and the track is all mint. I'm gonna have to bump down my goal next year for lap times...LOL

Well it's got to be an improvement and I like the overall layout. I don't like the lack of run off and nearby trees and stuff. Having to think about what line to go with based on dodging hole, ripples and shit doesn't help either. Not that I'm in the mode to try and light up on any course, but I definately get in the cruise mode around there. You will know they are serious about fixing things up if they do something about the John. I guess it all builds charactor.

BTW, didn't I hear that someone is building a road track around Aurora or Joliet? Maybe BH is trying to make changes to build a following before the competition comes on line.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

I've got a link for the proposed Joliet facility... it's supposed to surpass VIR in terms of amenities and "posh". I'll dig it out when I get home tonight. BTW it's still in financing stages.

maybe we should help to acquire the funding for them. That way we'd get dibs on track days.

Wow, why does everyone bag on race tracks.

When I raced Laguna, when you came out of the last corner, you would scuff your outer knee puck against the wall. If you slipped going through one after going past start finish, you would crash into a wall. Three, again, a wall, but it was a ways.

Sears. Way cool track, but you can die there.

Pomona Fairplex...it was a parking lot.

Charlotte Motorspeedway. One year it was haybale chicanes. Then, 2x4 chicanes. Walls, etc.

Loudon. I'm in "And They Walked Away. Part IV"

And there was the Streets of Steamboat races, and it's replacement, Park City, Utah.

But far and above the dangers of a race track...street riding...

because its 5000% easier to bitch about the track conditions than bitch about how slow I am!

I think we all know motorcycles are dangerous. But it makes sence to minimalize the risks to riders in whatever manner possible (good safety equipment, runoff, no armco/tirewalls ect....)

I think BHF is fairly safe now already, decent runoff in T1(Which I've tested and the only place I have any pucker is when I see that tire wall in T4-5. Some smooth grippy pavement (like putnam) would be great IMHO .

I think we're all grateful to have a bunch of trackriding options in the midwest within a reasonable drive....but its hard not to drool over some of the other tracks round the world

Dangerous...

Two way street. First, one rider can go faster than another on the same bike. That can be because of experience, reaction time, etc.

Second part is that hardly anyone understands how a bike works and how it should be set up. There are so many small variables in the equation. And that is what will help any rider. But riders try to ride harder on the equipment that is set up one way, just trying to run it in harder. That will work until things are over come.

Cars are easy. Things are known about them. They can slow down so fast, etc.

Motorcycles? Even the dealerships don't understand EXACTLY how things work. They'll sell you something that is one of the stickers on Nicky's bike. Hey, Nicky's leathers say Joe Rocket, right? They say that, but they're not...

I didn't get lost, the comment was made about BHF being closest and I found Gingerman to be very close also...closer for me in fact. I also like how you add that j/k to the end so when I get bumped I don't stuff you in every corner...because you know I will

And so I'm not completely bastardizing this thread, like DanO said, I hope they tear off the old stuff to lay down the new. I know anything will be an improvement, but the least they could do would be to do it right. The 1st NESBA day should be a fun one!
