I was there Saturday for the LCR class/boat race

Everything was going fine until the front brake decided to stick going into the carousel. I went to turn it in and I felt the front end shimmy just a bit, then it just washed out. Not too much damage other than both front/rear brake levers.

The best part was being able to watch the rest of the race from next to the trees outside of turn-3

It was very impressive watching some of the racers going through 4 and 5 leaned over with rooster tails come out from behind their bikes. I honestly don't know how the stayed up.

I spent Saturday in T-4, and Sunday in T-5. Brought 3 sets of rain tires to the track, and had them ALL sold by noon.

Next stop: Gingerman Raceway for the double-points season finale in 2 weeks!

Nope I had a small issue in turn-3, the carousel, when my front brakes decided to stay in the braking mode AFTER I released the brake lever. Pretty hard low-side when the front end washed out as I tipped it in.

I haven't investigated it fully, but it is either a sticking caliper, a warped rotor, or...I had too much dam brake fluid in the resevoir, and since the rotors are thicker on the rain tire wheels, it created a hydraulic lock as the brake fluid heated up. Somewhat like changing to new pads, and not bleeding out the extra fluid. Yes...I'm kicking my own ass right now for not noticing it.

On a good note...
Rick, from LCR, said that I could come back finish the class with him at any of their 2006 events since it was a mechanical issue and not a rider input issue.

I love racing in the rain!! However, I had a problem with my face shield fogging up, tryed everything. Raced GT lights one handed so I could hold the face shield up, Finished 5th. Pulled off in LWGP because to it!! Managed to take 3rd in 125gp!! WooHoo!! Goodtimes.

Congrats on the finishes

I got a tip from another racer about the fogging since I was running with the shield cracked open due to fogging.

Put a piece of Duct Tape (fix-all) from one cheek, over your nose, and to the other cheek. This makes a nose cup that directs you exhaled air down, and away from the shield. It feels wierd having duct tape on your face, but it sure as hell works.

Another trick is to wedge one of those cheapie foam earplugs in the corner when you close the visor- keeps the visor open just a crack.

Kim... Arai helmets have that option built into it. Fog City also works very well.

My step dad was out for a bit taking some pictures as well, I believe he spent most of his time in Turn 7. Kudos to all of you corner workers out there braving the rain and especially to the riders, you guys are pretty awesome to get out there and ride an expensive machine in pouring rain knowing that you could crash. Duct tape is like a band aid, quickly and swear when you get it off, but yes it works. Also some rain x anti fog as well, just make sure to do it before, cause it stinks. Anybody know who was on a Hawk that went down in T1? He was puking oil really bad.
