I love nature and all....but the fewer the trees next to a racing surface the better!!!!!!

granted I never rode there yet.....but being a spectator I did notice that there are quite a few trees awfully close

But that track is going to be nice and smooth....

just 1 question....does grippy always me tire shreading? can you have a grippy surfach that doesn't shread a set of tires in about 3 laps? or do the 2 go hand in hand?

I'm all for clearing out the trees in the run-off area, but it looks like they've cleared out the paddock somewhat as well. "Our" one big tree is still there, but it will be somewhat less shady (and warmer) than last year.

I think "gription" and tire life run in inverse proportions.

I think the scientific term would be co-efficient of friction. And I'd agree that there is an inverse relationship between traction and tire life, Putnam and MAM are good examples of this.

Hell ya. I've seen way too many people go off there. I've had my share of front and rear slides through there. When i tossed the bike over, I never was completely sure exit the turn upright.

hum, i saw the PIC for turn 5, as you can tell they only did 1/2 of the width, so i am wondering if there will be a little ongoing hill that runs length wise threw that corner?
(i would think that's bad) i don't see why they didn't do all the way across the width of the track and keep going down the track length wise when they get a section done, (unless they are going to bank the corners?) which I don't think.

time will tell but atleast there finally doing something about it

gingerman is like that (only with 3 sections wide and 2 seems) and they occassionly do in cold sessions get a little slippery but nothing that was all that worrisome.

I think their equipment is only the standard 12 or so feet wide and they must be doing a 1/2 miles or so stretch at a time.

Remember public roads are done in 2 parts for the same reason... and so traffic can keep flowing.

In that photo you can clearly see at least 2 - 2" layers and they don't completely overlap. That way they won't have the seam for both layers and both halves of the road at the same spot. Sort of like brick laying. You never lay bricks in a vertical column.

Well, I've got pictures I took Saturday of the track it's done.

What corner would you like to see?

How about me standing on top of the piles of concrete outside of 6?

(The track is awesome!)

Ok folks, I have never been to Blackhawk, but most likely go this season....to watch you guys, run tape and shoot stills, the spousal unit would have my nuts, wait she already does, if I went back to dragging knee. But, corner six looks like it has a negative camber to me WTF? Hard to carry speed thru if thats true.

I think the piles of concrete will be left for the "extreme" side of road racing...

Turn six, is actually up hill slightly and then banked. Here's a different picture.

Whatchutalkinbout Willis?

FYI If my memory isn't overly hazy I did 3 BHF trackdays and 4 Grattan trackdays this season.

Current tenative 2003 plans for me include CCS @ BHF and WERA @ Grattan with some schools and private test'n'tune days thrown in.

Now if they only will redo the corner stands too. Some of them suck in teh heat (turn 5) and need the ground fixed (turn 1 has a nice rut near where you have to walk down to go out on teh track.

On the lighter side, they took my dots away.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.
