Kevin Elliot will purchase and run things. Nothing to interesting other than things might start to finally get better. No more Clear Channel ! !

Are we there yet?

Maybe they won't get better. No doubt, Clear Channel brought a good amount of resources to the table, and it's going to be tough going it separate from them. The fact that the whole thing was up for sale--and for only $800k at that--doesn't really lend CCS the aura of being a self-sustaining organization.

Still and all, I've never regarded Clear Channel as a particularly wholesome organization, and CCS might be better rid of them. I could be mistaken, but it surely doesn't look like Clear Channel put much effort into promoting CCS (not locally, anyway) and given that promotion is Clear Channel's entire business, that isn't really excusable. Maybe independence will give CCS more ability to promote itself.

Yeah I didn't get the joke right off the bat. You can see in my post on the wera board that they explained exactly what happened

Sad to see the demise. However, WERA board thread has some excellent reading. Anyone interested in racing... or even the spectator sport may want to read the thread linked here at the beginning.

Thanks for sharing it.

"Demise"? Hardly. CCS is alive and well... and probably better off now that it's being run by folks who are actually passionate about club racing. F-USA, well... just my opinion but it seemed stagnant. Some interesting commentary on the WERA thread, for sure!

Glad I could offer up some humor for you.

The fact that their are alot of the regions are affilates and not run by CCS hurts them in my opinion. The fact they added another one right before the "sale" of the name kinda indicates to me that Elliot is not 100% sure he can make it work.

How so? It seems like the "affiliate" regions have been pretty successful - at least they seem to be running smoothly.

Exactly......why do they need CCS then?

Credibility for securing sponsorship commitments, a "strength in numbers" kind of thing? Would a small, regional racing association have the same ability to draw the same amount of contingency dollars as a national organization? TrackAddix has been given the opportunity to "run" the Great Plains region. It's going to be a challenge to draw enough #'s to be close enough to "break-even" to be successful. I doubt they'd be able to do it on their own without some kind of backup at first.
