Local source for safety wire?

Need some safety wire. Harbor Freight in Aurora doesn't have it.

And where can I get those "R" clips for the axle and safety pins for the oil filler and drain bolts?

search for safety wire from these guys, they have it....

http://www.mcmaster.com/

I know they have a warehouse for pick-up in Elmhurst. I think they have other pick-up centers around too. Might one closer

I get everything you ask for from Woodfield Cycle. I am sure that the site sponsor dealers can get it for you, or your local bike shop can have it for you in a couple of days.

McMaster has everything... but their search is ridiculous IMHO. However, I have bought quite a few things there over the years.

Otherwise... I have safety wire, and the pliers, bring it over this weekend and we can wire it up for you. Or if you aren't done until Grattan, find me in the AM before tech and I'll lend you the stuff.

Brian

R Clips and Safety pins and such you can find at any hardware store. Just look in the same department where they keep their bolts and nuts. They usually call R clips "trailer hitch pins" or something like that, and the caliper D rings are called "safety pins" at least at Menards.

BTW, anyone know the difference between safety wire and just the regular stainless steel wire that I pick up at said hardware stores? Do I really need to get purpose made "Safety wire" vs just steel wire?

Wire is wire Jon, no worries. The stainless doesn't rust and twists easier. Just try to get the same thickness (can't remember it at moment)
