April 8/9 Putnam Park anyone going?

Just wanted to check, is anyone else from CLSB going to be riding at Putnam Park this weekend with STT so I can look out for you guys? I'll be on an 03 SV650 with a silver gas tank, and either primer colored bodywork, or a completely naked bike depending on whether I get the bodywork in and mounted up in time.

Hey, are you interested in sharing a hotel room with me and Dave (mikdivad) or carpooling if you have a big enough trailer? I can't guarantee there will be any bed space but we can just do rotations between bed and floor between Friday and Saturday night. Oh yeah, I'll be there both days.

As Jon mentioned I'll be there for both days doing some control riding (or as STT likes to call it, "Track coaching"). The weather looks like it's going to be good for this time of year. Jon and I plan on leaving Friday night.

Hey, does anyone have an extra back protector I can borrow? I sold mine and ordered a different brand...then UPS lost it! It was supposed to be here last Friday, but won't make it until Monday. Any help would be appreciated Oh, anyone that needs a place to stay can sleep on my couch... I live 30 minutes from the track.

Checked the forecast and looks like rain for Saturday and a high in mid-fifties for Sunday. Just got back from Las Vegas and that seems a little cold.

However, if weather improves, I'll probably go.

I've got a Teknic 7 plate one, or the Alpinestars Tech back protector that you can borrow. I'll just bring em both along and you can use whichever one you prefer.

Hmmm, next time I go to Putnam I'm going to keep you and your couch in mind

OK... been offline today.

To cut it off after the pass: NO! I am not going to Putnam this weekend. Although... it sure would be fun. My wife is gone this weekend and asked for it off quite a while ago. Considering the fact that I will be gone MANY weekends this season, I better not screw this weekend up.

Trailer - I get my new trailer on the 17th. Still borrowing a buddy's when I go. However, I should have mine for RoadAmerica and then I am set for the season. (Still have to prep the trailer though)

Barry - I live near Jon and also have a couple of back protectors. I can send additional selections for you to peruse. you know, you just never know which color back protector goes with your under clothing.

Ody - AJ is a nut case, nuff said.

Now, the key question is this when does my wife get home on Saturday? AND... would she kill me if I left at 3am to go to Putnam for one day?

(or am I just asking to get whacked?)

This was my first time riding with STT... and MOST of the things I have heard from others about them proved true, that's all I'll say about that part of it..... I had I great time, and I'd ride with them again..in a similar circumstance.

I missed having all my NESBA buds around! JonGu was good company though, a super nice guy, thanks for everything! I enjoyed the chance to meet some new people too, from the WERA board and others.

The weather was good enough... around freezing in the mornings, but sunny and COMFORTABLE later in the day. It was kinda nice not to sweat your ass off

I had few problems adapting to the different bike....GP shift was a non-issue, learned it by heart in one session, no mistakes. Handling the extra HP is a different animal. I realized quickly that my riding style had to change. On the first session Saturday, it was cold ofcourse, and I was very tentative with the throttle on corner exits, as I could feel alot of wheel spin. I never imagined that wheel spin would be a problem on the straight though . I shifted to 5th somewhere close to the flag stand, spun the tire, hit a bump, got a LITTLE sideways, and chased a wobble all the way to turn one. MUCHO EXCITING!
That's the part where I had to change my style a little. Long story short.. I beat my best time at Putnam by a good margin, had fun, brought everything back in original condition, and had fun
Can't wait for Grattan

Still in the process of wrestling my Godfather Racing bodywork on the bike at the moment, but for now all I can say is that I was pussy footing the entire weekend through T4, and pretty much the entire track. I was riding about midpack "I" group instead of towards the front of the "I" group like I was last year, and STT's "I" group is slower than NESBA's. I gotta get my mojo back, but I did take the time to work on hanging off the bike more and such. Still a blast, and good to see a lot of track guys again. We gotta start coordinating our pit locations

Oh, and I didn't crash

Congrats on surviving T4, Jon. We'll get ya running back at the front of I again soon. You were ripping it up at the end of last season in I.

got a few low 1:17s in traffic, average 1:18. I know if I had a little open track I would be in the 16s. I was passing at least 3 bikes per lap. My best last year was 1:18.5 I think.
