Post ride at Shawano!!!!!!!

What can I say I am HOOOOOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a blast!!!!!!!!!! This is the same track that all the AMA pro's ride and some of them where actually there. Mind you this is my first time on a motard track. Day started at 5:30 in the morning it took about 3 hours and 45 min to get up there. Got there around 9:15 signed up for a membership for $80 which signs me up for the series that they run at the track and also lets me ride the track for $20 anytime I go up there. Now $20 trackdays compared to a $160 big bike trackday???? There is no comparison. Think of how much fun you have at the Oval and multiply it by 10 . Well I pitted next to 4 other guys that had KTM's set up for motards and Alyson and me started to set up my ez up and get the bike unloaded. Every one was very cool just like any other trackday and I made alot of new friends. I missed the first session as I wanted to watch and get a feel of how the track went so I just spectated the first session. The trackday was split up between 2 groups. First group was the motards and second group was go carts. It worked out great. The faciliteis were pretty nice also. The first half of the day the dirt section was closed I was nervous to even think about being in the dirt as I have no dirt expierence. Well I held my own with every one there except a couple of the pro guys the definitly showed me a thing or two and man they can back it in to a corner . Well they opened the the dirt section at around 1pm and I was shitting a brick when I did the first lap. I felt like I was riding on ice I was riding so slow my bike died out I was thinking of just bypassing the dirt section the second session but I figured if I was ever going to race motard I was going to have to learn sooner or later . Well after about 4 more sessions and a couople of pointers I was feeling a little more comfortable on the dirt section. Not good but a little more comfortable. It kinda sucked when a 12 year old Al Hansons son nefew of Mitch Hanson was passing me like I was standing still while doing the woops section. I left aroung 5 pm as I was wiped out but the track stays open till dusk. So if you wanted you could stay and ride the track for 12 hours for $20 which in my book is a deal in a half. I honestly don't think I will do another big bike trackday there is no reason to since I am having just as much fun if not more and paying $150 less a day. My goal is to get really good on the dirt section and do a couple of AMA races. Now thats my goal so if I get spanked the first race weekend when I race this series I might have ro revaluate my goals . Alyson took a couple of pics I will try to post them up.

Almost completely opposite riding style than road racing ain't it?

If you want to back it in you have to get to the opposite side of the bike, opposite side to where you are turning. Dirt Trackers call it crack to crack. Your butt crack should be on the outside crack of the seat and push down on the inside handle bar like you are physically pushing the front end down to where you want to turn.

Awesome Shit Steve!!!!

Glad you had a great time and looking forward to going to future ones.
