Madmanbiker usually doesn't sell salvaged bikes, they may buy them that way but they ususally don't sell them that way, the bikes may at one time been salvaged but they apply for a dealer title and are able to convert the salvage title back to a street title to sell for street use.
Marty has a pretty slick operation going over there, some good mechanics working for him. They do good business, but you will never get a really good screaming deal there. You will get a nice paint job and whole bunch of bling bling, chrome, shit though. SOUTH SIIIIIIIDE! To get the deals that Ken is talking about you need to enter into the dealer network and attend insurance auctions.
Bikes that are totalled can range from the worst damage imaginable to something as simple as a little dent in the frame somewhere.
Some bikes are totalled only because the plastic is all fucked up. This is a road racers bargan. Buy a bike for 2 grand at an auction and the plastic is only fucked up. Slap some race skins on, do the suspension and rock out with your cock out on the track for under 3 grand on a bike that has less than 2K on the clock.
Some you can get for cheaper, some the forks are bent, some a wheel is bent. Various things.
Don Cook bought a Buell for a pretty good price, it was totalled because of a little dent in the frame. Turned out on the computrack everything was straight but its still taking a chance.
My buddy just bought a 05 R6 for 1500 bucks, forks are bent and there is no plastic, some other shit is wrong too. So then you have to figure out where and how much a front end is, get it computracked, plastic, suspension, clip ons controls, levers all kinds of shit to get it on the road and before you know it you have 5 grand tied up into a bike you figured you got a good deal on because you bought it at an auction for 1500 bucks with a salvage title but now you have 5 grand tied up into it.
Its a gamble
