Drag strip day at Byron 7/8, 7/9 to practice launching a bike?

When: July 8/9
Where: Byron Dragway in Rockford
What: Drag Strip runs to practice launching your race bike
Why?: I sure as hell need more practice getting decent starts off the line
How?: Still looking into more details...

So... Which of you racer types want to go the the drag strip and get some practice launching their bike?

How does Byron Dragway in Rockford on July 8/9th sound? Doesn't conflict with any CCS or NESBA events that I know of. Tentatively it looks like the cost might be around $25 and we can get in 3-6 runs, but I'll call to find some more details later on in the week.

Oh, and as far as bike requirements, I believe all bikes are required to have at least the OEM chain guard. I know most guys take theirs off so hopefully you all have em lying around somewhere still.

Here's the thread in the drag strip forum that I was asking some questions in w/ responses from the more seasoned drag strip guys. I've never done it before, only watched a couple times during car events.

Byron is real easy on tech. My friend took his turbo busa down the track wearing jeans before.

Basically you just need full gear and a chain guard. I don't think they even check for a killswitch tether, but I haven't raced my bike there this year so I'm not sure.

Under 120mph and you can even wear jeans...not that I recommend it.

I will have to see what this weekend looks like, they are filling up quickly.

Just FYI to avoid confusion though, Byron is in fact a seperate town than Rockford. They are close, and you could exit RT 2 to get there but it's a little further than Rockford.
